When you open Firefox, it should remind you there is an update and give you the 'install now' or 'remind me' prompt. Just click, and it does it's thing. My update came through yesterday, it was done in a blink. Oh, almost forgot, on your toolbar, under your BACK arrow, there should be a red icon with Getting Started labled. If you click it, it will offer you additional info and any Mozilla tutorials you may want to check out.
windows update No. I mean updating windows xp. When I go to the start menu and try, nothing happens. Internet explorer won't start. then when I open firefox it won't start. Have to hit cntrl-alt-del and close internet explorer, then firefox starts.
I can't do it through Firefox either. But I can do it through Internet Explorer. But I don't have a problem opening either one. .... Since Firefox is my default I just let Firefox take me to the site. Cpoy the url and paste it into IE ... But fir other stuff, if it weren't for Ctrl+Alt+Del, I woulda pitched the computer altogether! I'm no help, I know. But I do feel for ya
I personally haven't used Firefox in a while, but I know that the earlier versions of Firefox would not allow you to download the updates from the Microsoft website. I don't know if this was a issue with Firefox or with Microsoft's site, but I do know that I never had issues with using any version of IE for the Windows updates. Craig
I only use Firefox, and I get the automatic downloads for Windows. Is that what you're talking about? I have not had any problems with that recently.
If you go to the Microsoft Site within Firefox, it will not allow you to update. If Your PC is already scheduled to receive the updates it does not matter what your browser is.
Fire fox Add-ons one of the best things about Firefox is Add-on's A great one to solve this problem is one called IETabs This allows you basically to set some pages to run IE as a tab. you can set the windows update site to always switch to IE and it will work great.
OK, I see what you mean. The updates start downloading when I turn on the computer, before I even open a browser, and then they install when I shut down. Nothing to do with the browser at all. I'm no help. Sorry.
The ONLY time when I shut my computer down is when Progress Energy cannot provide electricity. I have mine set to do any backups, anti-virus, spyware detection, updates from 1am to 5am. Much easier IMO.
