I know, that would have been a great first concert to take my son to, he loves Linkin Park but he is going out of town AGAIN next Tuesday.
Wanted to take my ds too and he is also out of town! AND we will be gone when Collective Soul is here.....he loves them too! So glad he has good taste in music like his Mama!!
Not sure if many can take advantage of it, but if you stay at Hilton Hotels a lot and are members of their frequent stayer program they are giving out free concert tickets for concerts at Walnut Creek for each stay in one of thier hotels. Just gave away a couple of tickets to Journey.
Really? Is Walnut Creek having financial problems? Just wondering because I don't remember them doing the $10 tickets or giving away tickets for hotel stays since we moved here 12 years ago. Sherry
Gas is expensive, and the economy is in a slump, concerts are entertainment luxuries; the sort of thing that is the first cut in most budgets.
Hilton is doing this, and it covers a number of venues across the country. There are two in NC, one in Charlotte and Walnut Creek.
Did anyone else try to buy these "$10" tickets today? I tried and they charged $6 parking and over $4 for a convenience charge on each ticket. They ended up being over $20 each after that, so I didn't buy any... I figure I can buy lawn tickets at the gate on the day of the concert that I wanted to attend (Third Day) and then I won't have to pay for parking on each one, right?
I bought 16 tickets to various shows...it ended up being 20.32 each ticket which is still way cheaper than the original cost. Even when you buy regular price they charge you convenience charges (even at the gate). I ended up saving $10 a ticket over the regular price.
I think tickets will be regular price on the day of the concert. This was just a one day special deal, at least thats the way it seemed to me.
I believe you are correct on that. Also, some that we bought did not have those extra fees. Either way I believe we saved $$. Sherry
Much as I would have liked to see some of the shows, I am boycotting them this year no matter how much they lower their ticket prices! We had worked for a couple of months prior to this season to group together some sponsors and line up a VIP box. We were going to give away the show tickets in the Scratch n' Win and some additional new games. We TOLD them from the beginning that we would be using the VIP box tickets as promotional give-a-ways and they said that was fine. Everything was in agreement and they sent us the contract to sign. On the first page they had bolded an entire paragraph that basically said "tickets cannot be used in any type of promotions without prior written consent." <sigh> So we call them and ask for the "written consent" to be added to our agreement for the VIP Box. Their response? "Sure we can do that but it will be an additonal $2,500!" Yes, the ONLY way we could give away the VIP Box tickets would be to pay them the additional amount - they wouldn't budge from that so we had no other choice but to walk away. Their reasoning for the extra charge is so they can "maintain creative control. Some bands or performance groups are very specific as to how their logos or names can be used for promotion purposes." Ok, I understand that, but why does it cost an extra $2,500 just so you can tell me the rules for promoting the ticket give-away?! Would love to see Heart again or ZZ Top, but I'm just going to fallback on my memory of Magic Man and Baraccuda when I saw them with a sell out crowd in the Greensboro Coliseum back in the 80s! Maybe next year...8)
Nice thought but no need to. I just get a laugh when they send me their "specials" which includes VIP Boxes that they haven't sold out! 8)
