    Actually, I would have prefered that our athletes compete in a different country. The IOC chose China. FWIW, I understood and respected Carter's decision to boycott the Olympics because of the Russia invasion of Afghanistan.

    Regrettably, politics entered the amateur Olympics long ago. The mix, once it happened, is unchangeable.

    So, you're saying it's OK to support SOME communist governments, and not others?

    Yes! The media and athletes are there for a specific purpose, to cover the Olympics and compete in them. Nothing political. The president of the greatest nation on Earth had an opportunity to make a very important statement to the government of China and he did not. Shame on him!

    Guess we need to agree to disagree.

    I will go through some of my old Posts when I can but I do think that I commended him on bringing our nation together in the months after 9/11. But he blew that shortly thereafter.

    We are doing that by allowing our athletes to go compete.

    All of us have, some of us learn not to repeat, and then we have George Bush .....The Eveready Bunny of Faux Pas!!!!! I guess if you're good at something you try to get better at it.
