I got a real silver quarter Yesterday, when getting some change back, I heard the distinct sound of a silver coin in my change as it was being taken from the change drawer. Once I got it in my hand, I mentioned it to the less than 20 yr old and received a blank stare. Once I explained that coins in 64 and earlier were silver, not some combination of metals, he asked for it back. Yeah, riiiight! Nope, into my coin collection. Admittedly, it's not a biggie, but it was a happy moment...
Had the same thing happen to me going to the Zoo. I heard it when she gave me my change. I looked and said Wow, a Solid Silver quarter. The lady said I didn't know I gave you that. Are you willing to swap for another quarter. I said no thanks and took my silver quarter home. What was so weird about that store was they had a bubble gum machine that cost a quarter and you got a little bubble with old and foreign coins. My son was eating that machine up. He even got a 1926 Buffalo Nickle that was in pretty good shape.
I should have one of you closet collectors take a look at my coins that my Granddaddy left me. I'd love to know what they're worth. And I have a ton of paper money from other countries from WWII. Wonder if that's worth anything?
Call the neighbor each and every time no matter what time of the day or night. Leave a message if they are not at home. Log the calls, date, time, etc. If the dog continues call the police for a noise disturbance. I have never had to call the police because the neighbors actually got the hint and apologized. One even put a collar on that spray something when the dog barks to break her from barking. We are lucky to have such great neighbors. Good luck, Sherry
