What ever happend to taking pride in your work or dedication to one's job?

Why is it that all you see now at quitting time is people standing around just waiting for the clock to strike so that they can proceed to make a mass movement (stampeed like in some cases) towards the exit door?

Why is that people **** and moan about raises and not getting paid enough, yet do nothing above and beyond to show they deserve a raise or more pay?
