Charity Hit Hard By Thieves
The director of a local charity says thieves are taking donated goods before they can be given to the needy. Ronald Still, director of Basic Needs Ministry, says $1,000 in items have been stolen from the non-profit charity in the past three weeks. Many of the good are dropped off at the front door. Thieves allegedly pilfer through the items, take what they want, then leave. The charity has limited hours of operation, and thieves know just when to drop by. Still told deputies on Saturday he has installed security cameras, which have captured a number of the thefts. Stills said one woman has repeatedly stole items he suspects are later resold at flea markets and yard sales. Authorities hope to use the videotape to identify the suspects.
