Thankfully, I haven't had too many bump ups. I did back into a low pole in a parking lot several years ago and had to fix that myself against my insurance. I had no tickets at the time so it didn't affect my insurance. The only traffic accident I've been in on the road was one in which I was rear-ended. I wasn't charged, the other driver was charged. My car sustained over $2000 in damage, however my insurance didn't go up. The one thing I did have to argue with the insurance company on was the fact that they wanted to fix my car with non-OEM parts. I said no way. I wasn't charged; your customer was at fault and I want my vehicle put back together like it was prior to the accident. They relented and all was well...except maybe the guy who rammed me who likely had some higher premiums for a while.
Buffaloe Road Lots of Aggressive Drivers on this road also. I take it to get to Lake Benson and I always get someone on my rearend. I usually go 40 in the 35 cause i see cops on this road all the time. I have even had people pass me on the road. There are some morons out there for sure.
Coming up 42 from the East in to Clayton this morning I came up on a vehicle going about 40 in the 45 -55 zones. I can credit this thread for my behavior. I learned two things since I was paying attention due to this thread. First - I pulled op on their tail as I have probably done in the past. This thread kicked in and I backed off. It actually felt good. Second- I realized what the real reason for tailgating is - at least for me. The reason I pull up like that is so that I will be able to pass easier when it's clear. It's probably totally unnecessary to be that extra 30 feet closer. Thanks 4042 for making me a more conciderate driver.
actually, if you hang back a little, it'll be easier to see around them and you'll have the added room in your own lane to pick up some speed before popping over into the oncoming lane, so you can complete your pass more easily... i learned most of my passing tricks on hwy 58 between kinston and emerald isle over the last 40 years....
