OK, I got it. Kaci for Mayor, and Harley & me for council. We might let some of you boys join, if you promise to play nice.
if everyone is really serious about this we need to have some sort of meeting or gathering to start the ball rolling.
I think the shopping center is a great idea as long as it is a shopping center and not a mall. Hopefully they clean up what's already there to make things more attractive and easier to navigate. I really hope it also gets its own exit on 40. This was done for large shopping center where we used to live and it significantly reduced traffic in the surrounding area. Of course, 40 needs to be widened all the way up to the beltline, as it already gets a ton of traffic. And my vote goes to Cleveland Oaks, since it seems to fit better with the area. It would be great to live in a subdivision that isn't half one town and half another.

You're such a pro-troll. We're all really angry and tired of *yawn* oh.. i'm sorry, what was i typing? *reads back* oh, right.. false praise. I guess typing that much BS really took a lot out of me.
It seems that the name issue is going to be a huge one. And that's both understandable and admirable. Why not table the naming of the town until after we can decide whether or not there is enough support to begin the process. Find a location that is suitable, i.e. a school that is unused at the evening time, and open the meeting up. Ask for volunteers to help with the committee stuff. I'll volunteer to "chair" the first one if we can get some basic agreements in place as to when and where folks can meet, and some sense of Robert's Rules of Order" things to keep it on track, i.e. time limit on presentation of POV, agreements to be civil so we won;t end up on Youtube like the Taiwanese Congress. And to agree that the only vote to be allowable is to continue to pursue options and other issues (like naming the town, etc.) If we could get someone from Archer Lodge who was on the steering committee to volunteer to speak to us, they'd probably be able to save us a lot of strife.
Very good idea Hat. also be prepared to have someone incharge of fundraisers as this will cost some money for hiring the lawyer and for sending out fliers, if you can get someone to donate the time and space to create a website with info that will save you some time and money as you can have a FAQ's page and a contact page for people to submit questions, you can also set it up for donations. One good thing is that yall already have a lot of commerical property and if you can get the owners in on this they may be willing to put up some money!
There are (or may be) committees "in place" that have been working on incorporation ideas for sometime. The name of our area is NOT the biggest issue, let's start with boundaries.... Check with our local gov before heading into forming a committee to end up wasting time on meetings with a "new" group when your efforts and presence could be very helpful in an established group that is already representing the 40/42 area....whatever the boundaries are! PS: I think it is time for a new thread!
