At Cook-Out, try the chicken strips. They are huge and very crispy! A Cook-Out tray w/ chicken strips (3 of them!), fires, onion rings and a beverage, and you won't need to eat for the rest of the day. Ask them to make the Peanut Butter shake w/ chocolate in it - yum! Needless to day, since starting the diet/exercise program bakc up in May, I ahve not been to Cook-Out in awhile. To stay on topic, that's too bad about Andy's. The last time I was there, my food was pretty good. I helped soemone move, and we stopped there for lunch, and she paid. I don't usually go because I'm cheap .
I hope you're wrong about them closing....they have the best chili cheeseburgers, fast food wise....hands down. Cookout's burgers are like eating shoe leather.:ack:
My advice for Andy's would be to: 1. Get away from the poodle skirts and the over-the-top Fifties theme. A little is okay, but its too much. 2. Dump the higher priced cus-My Friend and get back to ice cream. Namely, I'd go with soft serve with cones, sundaes and banana spits along with milkshakes. 3. Steam your hotdog and hamburger buns. This would be a nice angle that I will get back to. 4. Please stop the assault of "Hi...welcome to Andy's!" from every single member of the crew. One person is enough. 5. Get rid of the waitress seating and have it more fast food like. The customer simply says, "Eat In" or "Take Out" and you get a tray or a bag. Now the reason I say all this is because the hometown of Andy's used to have a family-operated grill that was the place to be similar to many other small town grills. They weren't big, but served Tastee Freeze ice cream and operated much like the description above. When the town got a McDs and Burger King, popularity waned some and the owner was getting up in age. I bet many of the locals wish it was still open and why not take your chain and pattern after the idea? I bet many small towns have lost their grills or the quality has slipped after a change of hands. Consistency and a small hometown grill image would serve them well.
