Wow, that sounds really good - i love Reubens but it hard to find a really good one - gonna have to try the reuben dog.:-D
Bush's Best is the brand in the jar. DH and DD eat it on their dogs. I prefer mine with mus-My Friend and onions, but I do love a good reuben!
Funny thing is, I am from the south! I was born in Fayetteville and moved to JoCo when I was 10. I was raised by Yankees, though!
I cant do kraut. ugh. My mother made it when we were little. It is to sour for me. Give me a red hot by carolina packers with onion ,chilli (just a little), a little mus-My Friend and ketchup on a soft fresh bun......mmmmm. now I am hungry. RJ's in Fuquay have the best dawgs....mmmm
Don't shoot me. I'm originally from NJ (by way of NY ) and Sauerkraut is a must on hot dogs. NOT the red ones. The Sabretts or even a Hebrew National or Ball Park will work (all beef only please). However, it needs to have Red Onions on it as well, otherwise it doesn't work. Red Onions are cooked with tomatoes, vinegar, worcestershire sauce, etc and they are warm. The kind in the refrigerator cases is best ... in the bag. Warm it. For sauerkraut lovers, you could also brown some apples/onions in butter and add the sauerkraut after the apples/onions start to carmelize. Yummy!
Love kraut on hot dogs, and I also don't like the red ones! I remember helping my grandmother make it. She used a big tub and we all use to help mix it up. I don't remember everything that she put in there, but it was a long process, but it was good. I do think the stuff in the jar is better than the canned, but I am the only one that likes it on their hotdogs, so I just buy the small cans. No sense in wasting it.
