Before everyone goes forward with a rush to judgement...it might be a good idea to let the legal system work through this case too. A Grand Jury indictment is a far cry from a conviction....in fact, it is often said that a good prosecutor should be able to get a Grand Jury indictment for almost anything, whether there is evidence or not. Hats off to Susan Doyle though for having it investigated by the SBI...this same type of thing has occurred in other districts and been swept under the rug.

Now it has been investigated....let a judge/or jury decide guilt or innocence.

Wouldn't is suck if you paid all that money to make your DUI "disappear" and it resurfaces because your lawyer purportedly went about it the wrong way?

I'd be one ****ed drunk person.

I've wondered since the beginning if they were going to review all of those cases and put them back in court. I think they need to... those people knew what they were paying for.

Disagree. Those defendants paid what they thought was right. Now, if they are allowed to sue for breach of contract, or substandard services, all the better. Whatever it takes for the judicial system to salvage its integrity.

Folks, we're talking about supposedly intelligent people who knew the law, and were comfortable taking shortcuts. They should have known all along that it was wrong, and especially since the NC legislature changed the law to require dismissal notice in open court, and to the agency that arrested the defendant. They have no excuse for not knowing, and it appears that with repeated events that they were ok with it, as long as they didn;t get caught, and were making money.

Disbar them for the ethical lapse, as a minimum.

Until we clear out all those back door judicial types, the only ones who get ahead are the crooked lawyers.
