Gandolfo's used to be in the space where American Hero was. The problem was that they were never open when they said they would be and the sandwiches weren't as well made as the one in Smithfield. Fat Guys (used to be where the Subway is in FiddleStixs) was way better than the Gandolfo's on 42. Now I'm missing the White Swan that was on 42. We used to have a lot more dining options or maybe it just seems that way. We heard that a Chickfila will be coming to the area near the Walmart on 42.
Huh.... wonder what happened to Backyard Bistro opening there. All I could find about Riffs is that they are apparently going to have NTN Trivia set up. http://www.buzztime.com/site/39324 (its the same sort of 24/7 trivia McKinleys, Buffalo Wild Wings and Moonrunners has)
Update on Riff's opening in Clayton on September 13. Sounds like a good concept and fun place. Only time will tell. I hope it is successful! http://www.claytonnewsstar.com/2014...gs-burgers-blues-to.html?sp=/99/586/587/&rh=1
Just learned Riff's is opening today, Saturday, October 4, with introductory menu. Located in WalMart shopping center off US 70 in Clayton.
Riff's update. Three of our friends dined there last evening. Their recommendation is to give them 6 weeks to work out the "kinks". They are only open for dinner at the present time.
Was in there for dinner on Saturday evening and the food was tasty but there are some kinks to be worked out. I'd say give them a couple more weeks and they should be straight.
Riffs If the issue is tweaking service and food prep then they still have a ways to go. Food was cold, idk if the kitchen didn't let the server know the food was ready or the server didn't check. I ordered something on plain bread, the bread was toasted but hardly edible. Husbands burger was good enough but side dish was cold too. We need more non chain restaurants in Clayton but need quality too.
I agree. We waited a very long time to be served on a day during "off-peak" hours. Once the food came, it was tasty, but not worth the wait.
same here plus add not worth the price. with other options in area this will not last. i was really hoping for backyard bistro. what we got was 1st restaurant for a really nice couple with no restaurant experience is what i am hearing. their dream. i personally hope they can turn it around.
Having a BYB that close would be amazing! Well, maybe not for my wallet, but none-the-less, we love it (it=BYB)!
It closed 2 weeks ago the owners texted employees to tell them they were no longer needed. A waitress that now works with my hubby at Rushing Buckets was telling us that was how she and other employees got the news.
