True, it is. The only difference between the debit card (which is all I use, Visa Debit) and the Credit card is that the fradulant charges are automatically deducted from your bank account and then replaced within 5 days, when the credit card won't deduct from your checking acct. and you can get it cleared up before the payment is due.
Somebody stole my husband's debit card number a few months ago, and Wachovia actually called HIM and asked about charges being made that day which were out of character for him. These idiots tried to use his card online to pay about 600.00 in cell phonebills (3 seperate bills/companies). My DH was not idiot, Clif. He did not know that some guys he was working with that week went through his wallet in his truck and copied the numbers down - even the ones on the back so they could make purchases online. Thank YOU Wachovia!!
So, I'm guessing with him working with them he knows who did this? Can you guys do anything about it? I don't know much about credit fraud, etc. so is there anything you can do since they did this, or do you have to wait for someone to actually charge crap?
Yes, he filed a fraud complaint with the bank and they are taking care of it. We don't *know* who it is, but 99.9% positive that it was these guys. The money was taken out of our account, and returned in a few days. Weird, since Wachovia said not to worry - but they gave the money right back.
I bought something off the net with my debit card. I don't remember exactly what it was but it was billed to and shipped from France or somewhere over seas. Well, within about 45 seconds of hitting enter I got a phone call on my cell from Four Oaks Bank fraud department verifying the charges. Verifying I still had possession of the card, etc. I was totally impressed. Reason 142 why I like Four Oaks Bank.
LaDeeGC - I am so glad you and your sons were not hurt. Thanks for sharing your story. I'm wondering about a strange shopping experience I had at Food Lion about 2 weeks ago. I was shopping alone and decided to make a detour to the ladies room. I left my cart by the bench there but, of course, I took my purse with me. When I came out, this guy was standing there and he looked at me and then turned and acted interested in the milk, etc. He kept turning towards me almost like he was about to speak. I just took my cart and headed away. I looked back to see him following me and watching me. I made eye contact with him (unpleasant eye contact) and he veered off down an isle while I stopped on the back isle. I just happened to peer back again and saw that he had stopped on his isle and he stood staring at me. This time I looked him dead in the eyes with a very mean face and he turned and left. I did not see him again. He had his hands in his pockest the entire time and had no items to purchase. It really made me feel strange. I told DH about it when I got home and it made him nervous too. After hearing your story, I'm wondering if I was almost a target like you were. I wear my purse on my shoulder and tucked under my arm and it has two rather thick straps...but....if a man got yours without you feeling it...that makes me worry. Just in case...the man I saw was skinny, about 35 but could be younger. He looked...well....creepy, maybe like he hadn't had a bath for a day or two. Hair was straight, dirty blonde & above shoulder length, not well kept. He had on khaki pants, a plaid shirt and a khaki, lightweight jacket which he kept his pockets in. No beard or mustache, but needed a shave. His eyes were a light color but I can't remember if they were blue or green. I do remember they were bloodshot. In general, he looked to me like he was living a hard life and not too healthy. I wish I had been close enough to ask him what the heck his problem was. It was obvious that he was following me and watching me.
That happened to my neighbor a few months ago at Lowe's food. Same behavior but I dont remember the description. The store manager actually called the police and she got an escort home (police followed her). CREEPY.
The more I read all this...I don't think I wanna shop by myself especially when I have toddlers in tow (with that kind of distratctions, I will not be aware of my surroundings). Its pretty scary.
Maybe he just worked for the Store. He noticed you going to the rest room. He was just prolly checking you out.
If he had not left when he did, I think I would have gone to the store manager too. By the time I gave him the last mean look, I was pretty concerned. Maybe he was scared off by my "mean" face:twisted:? Or, maybe he decided to find a short & petite woman for an easier target. I think I could have stomped him as long as he didn't cut me. I'm pretty tall and very "big boned" (no, really!... okay, I could lose a few pounds, actually I have recently, but even at my ideal weight, I am not petite and small looking). I tend to intimidate small guys. Not to mention I am experienced at wresteling 4 kids through the isles of any store which means I have 25 arms and 50 legs when I need them:lol:.
Awwww...what a sweet talker. That's what DH said at first too. But I could tell he didn't work there and, well, if he was checking me out, he needs to work on his moves a whole lot.
You would not ! Your saying that cause you are a man. If someone was truely falling you around you would be scared! How would you be hard to stalk if your easy to find?
robbed I was in Food Lion in Kenly couple weeks ago when a mid-twenties lady? approached me & asked me to lend her couple of dollars. Said something like she had left her wallet at home. 1)What can you buy for a couple dollars 2)I surely did not know her 3)I do not give money to complete strangers except a few charities. I told her that I didn't have any money on me and if she found somebody dumb enough to give her some let me know. Also told manager & stock clerk that were on NEXT isle and gave description. Manager stated that he had another report of someone in area doing that. Once tricked shame on them -Twice tricked-shame on me
 NOPE! We hate that sort of thing. Stalking and flirting/admiring are not the same thing. And yes, I think Ken would not be easy to stalk. In fact, I think he would make the stalker feel stalked before it was over:lol:
