I didn’t even notice that, thank you!! I will check that out as well.

 You crack me up. Oh, we are all about boosting the economy! ;) Glad to start off on the right foot in a new community, too!

Glad to here there are a number of you from VA, I don’t feel so alone now. I’m so glad to hear you say it has become your home here to you and you love it. I’ve lived in the area of Virginia I’m from (near Dulles Airport) since I was 8. It is the only “home” I’ve known and it is hard to imagine being somewhere else. Even though I’m nervous, I’m also very excited for the change!

We will be off of Cornwallis, just a couple miles from 42.

Thanks for the recommendation and welcome!

Don't remember if you asked about a pharmacy or not, but I highly recommend Medicap at 42 and Glen Rd.

Lance Wheeler is the owner and he is awesome! He has been a huge help to our family during some medical issues and the drugs we needed.

Howdy! A fellow Mom weighing in here.....

Raleigh Peds, Garner office. Cannot agree more. Won't ever leave them unless we move so far away we can't make the commute (that would have to be pretty far away!).

The peds dentist that Jen mentioned is the only one in the area (it seems) that will let you go back with your kids. If that is a consideration, give them a call first. On the adult front, I use Tim Sims up here at 40/42. I can see him whenever I want as opposed to seeing whomever was available at another local dentist.

The Find It Local section is great for just about anything you need!

Dr. Riccobene allows parents to go back with their kids, my dil does it every time she takes my grandkids and has never had a problem.

    relocation

G'Day! I've been here 2 years, also from the North. I have some goodies to pass along:

pediatrician: Clayton Pediatrics, Clayton (across from Super WalMart on 70)

Family doctor: Jodi Winkel, Garner Family Practice, 779-1440 - a large group and there's always someone who can see you when you need to be seen today. Dr. Winkel is grrrreat, very compassionate and can do your gyn. Don't know any ob's to recomment.

Dentist: Ricobene & Assoc. Offices in Garner (40/42 area) 661-6161 and also McKees Crossing. Highly recommend Dr. Anna Abernathy, she is absolutely wonderful, especially with my Autistic son. She's in Garner only 1 day a week but McKees Crossing is just up the road.

Orthodontics: Wake Orthodontics - 779-7598 - Dr. ERin McCutchen. Great with scared kids.

HAV/CAC: Britt's Mechanical, they have a guy, named Steve (I think) who is great. very professional - 829-9922

Appliance repair: Endicott's Repair - 554-1807 (great help with warranty repairs)

Hope you enjoy living here. Oh, and because the bugs are bigger here: Champion Pest Control, 550-3744. Don't laugh, just call 'em when you need someone!

    And
Did someone explain what a "SNOW" is in this area?

3-6 flakes is a SNOW. Yes, even hearing that someone else saw the flakes is enough to STOP all work & school (Well, almost). There will be NO BREAD, MILK, BEER or TP in the stores by 6pm. I am not joking.

My office once closed on the threat of snow.

We get more ice & freezing rain that snow.

Also the winter weather makes all 4x4 owners crazy & they think they can DRIVE in the icy mix at 60mph+. Plan to stay off the roads & watch the loonies drive via the 24-7 TV coverage of the weather.
