Thanks all!! She hasn't asked for one but I thought it might get her used to having to wear something. I know when I first started, I hated it cause I wasn't used to it. My stepdaughter was in no way wanting to wear one. She had to be forced and she NEEDED one.........BAD.

My little one is 9 and started wearing training sports-type bras a few weeks ago. She was one of those "all of a sudden" ones. She had a sports bra...because she wanted one, but then needed to go shopping for real.

<heavy sigh>

My little baby's growing up :cry: .

Ok, granted i never raised a daughter but personally if i did i would put off the bra thing, shaving the leg thing, coloring the hair thing, pantyhose thing, and the makeup thing as long as possible cause once you start it never ends:-D

I started my period when I was eleven and so did my daughter. My dad and I were the back yard playing ball when I was around 10ish and he yelled for my mom. She came outside and he stated (in front of me) she needs a bra and you need to talk to her about it. I was so embarrased.

As soon as I could see that my daughter had a little sticking out I started her on a training bra. She is very active with sports and usually those girls don't develop as quickly but she did. We went from sports bra to a real bra within 6 months. She did not want the real bra and was embarrased. Her friends had not developed and she thought she was a freak. I told her some get them early and others later. I took her to Belk's for measurements and sure enough she needed a 34 C cup. Yep, C cup. Even though she wore tee shirts under tops and and other items it did not help. I explained that once they move you wear a bra.

Her feeling for a while was that everyone was looking at them and not at her face. She also thought they entered the room before she did. As time went on her friends received the same blessing and parents were calling me. I explained the same to them. Low and behold, she is in high school and hers don't enter the room before she does because she grew into them. She does have friends whose still enter the room first. I tell them people pay alot of money for those things so don't worry about it, the rest of your body will catch up.

When you need the period question answered I can help. Since she and I started so early I know about this. I also spoke with the doctor about it and understand it better. The funny thing on that one is that some parents don't talk to the child and others have parents who talk to them but still believe the old fashion things. One day my daughter's friend called her and stated she was going swimming but was on her period and asked my daughter what to do. My daughter asked if she used a tampax or pad. The girl stated a pad and my brilliant daughter told her to put on the pad before she went in the pool. Needless to say she received a call later that day from that girl telling her what happened. My daughter told me what happened and I thought I was never going to stop laughing. I still bring this up to them and we all laugh.
