Actually, Ken it has been proven time and time again by various studies. They get sick less often, they have higher IQ's, and handle stress better.

TP, let me clue you in. WE ARE MAMMALS!!! That's what they are FOR!!! I'm sorry you have hangups and see breasts as only sexual. This is YOUR issue. Not mine or my babies. I can nurse anwhere, anytime I want in NC. And I can show my full breast, including nipple if I want!! The state of NC supports that. I don't, and people usually don't know what I am doing until they are right up on me. But, that's beside the point.

Places I have NIPped lately -

    Ruby Tuesdays
    BJ's
    D i c k's
    Triangle Towne Center/Play area
    Crabtree/Cheesecake Factory
    Crabtree/Rackroom
    Crabtree/Sears
    Movie Theatre in Smithfield
    Movie theatre in Garner
    Soccer Practice/Soccer games
    Morgan's Gymnastics
    Smithfield Middle School/Gym
    Smithfield Public Library
    McDonald's 210
    NC Zoo
    NC Aquarium @ Fort Fisher

And that's just recently. My baby is almost 5 mos old, and goes wherever I go. See you at the Christmas Parade in Raleigh on Saturday. I'll be the one nursing a baby!

Well, technically, it would be the baby breastfeeding.

But, if you don't want to see it, don't look.

OK, my 2cents. i breastfed all three of my children and as most of you know, i am 47yo so this was quite a few years ago. i did breastfeed when my child was hungry no matter where i was but i did use discretion. i always had a little blanket and used it to cover as much as possible and wore clothes that made it easily accessible to breastfeed without having to practically undress. As you guys know, 20some years ago there was not the acceptance there is now for public breastfeeding but i did what i had to do. In all those years i never had anyone ever say anything derogatory to me when in public. Like i said, i did try to cover as much as possible, not for the public's sake but more due to my own modesty and i know some of you will think this old fashioned, but i also did it out of respect for my husband. i don't know many men who would like to have their wives flashing their breasts to strangers. Yes, i agree this is due to our society's view of breasts and is totally different in other countries but this is the country we live in. i do not regret a minute of breastfeeding my children.

My son was about 7 when he saw my cousin breastfeeding her baby. When he asked me about it, I told him she was feeding her baby. He said "oh" and went on about his business. No big deal. A year and a half later, I had another baby and breastfed him every day for 8 months in front of my son and I think he's done just fine seeing "boobies". Oh, and when I have this baby in March, he'll see it again! OMG!! Do you think he's ruined for life??

He's also seen a good friend of mine and my niece breast feed. He doesn't gawk or giggle. He doesn't act any different if you break out the boob or the bottle. He knows that's what they are there for.

I'm all about being discreet, but come on....I'm not sitting in a bathroom and feeding my baby for anyone!

That's just it! If you act like it's the perfectly natural thing that it is.................so will the kids. I wasn't able to do it all that long, but I sure didn't go into some nasty public restroom to feed him, God only knows what you can pick up in there!
