    ok... my thoughts only...
but just because a child weighs more does not mean their bones are stronger than another child the same age - to support a crash. I just feel if educated doctors and people who study car seats injuries suggest forward facing then I think that is the best thing. It is just not a risk I am or was willing to take. My daughter did not love it either but we would crank up the classical music and she would finally relax... I rather her to be fussy then injured severely from an accident. A broken leg from being thrown into the seat was a little easier for *me* to deal with than a broken neck. Again I am NOT saying those who turn their children around early do not care, I am just saying to me it was not worth the risk.

For what it's worth, I DID go by my pediatricians recommendation. He was the most knowledgeable, down to earth doctor I EVER ran across. I'd trust his recommendation for my child rather than across the board recommendations based on the "average" child. One size does NOT fit all. Had we been in an accident with his legs under his chin, I don't think that would have been good either. I am one of the most over-protective mom's you will run across and would never take a chance on his health or well being.

again... I said MY opinion and this what MY doctor said... My childs doctor is OLD school also and was actually my doctor when I was a child... Again I too work in the medical field and see what can happen to "some" children and I am not saying your situation was wrong but I just mean overall the rule is a good one. She asked for OUR SUGGESTIONS and I gave it...

Sorry if I misunderstood, but it sounded to me like you were questioning those of us who needed to turn them around before the standard "year old" thing. The reason I question is this: Is a child any different physically, really, when he is 364 days old versus 365 days old, nope.................... but supposedly on that magical day, you can turn them around?? And I stated in my original response, that she needed to check with HER pediatrician for what was right for HER child. . 8)

Have you had her looked at for reflux?? I know it sounds crazy but my son had it and screamed every time he got into a car seat that was reclined (the rear facing ones). He got on the reflux meds and was fine riding!
