Jen~ I'm ready when you post. We've earmarked a lot of our gently used stuff for the church, but I know we can help out with the family too. Frogger
After much thought and rigamaro, here is what I've come up with. Sorry if I can't satisfy all the needs, but we are afterall, just a bunch of working class folks hoping to bring a little sunshine to a few kids. We'll do the best we can. I plan to try to facilitate helping 3 familes. Family #1- Mom and Dad have had a rough few years, and Mom's mom died recently adding to that. Dad is a warehouse manager who hopes to one day go into law enforcement, but can't afford to take the $2500 course at the college to get the ball rolling. Mom stays home to care for her developmentally delayed son, who was born 3 months early and was on a heart monitor for the first 10 months of his life. Girl, age 7-Loves horses, ponies, anything Barbie.... She weighs a whopping 44lbs and wears a size 7. Boy, age 3, delayed, has the functionality of a 10 month old.-Loves trucks (the big ones you push), veggie tales, handy haulers, and little people. He's a healthy boy who wears a size 4 Family #2- Dad is an electrician, and Mom was working at a local resturant. On Nov. 1, a deer ran out in front of her and she rolled her car 5 times. She's lucky to be alive. She has a broken vertebrae, and a fractured pelvis, and will be in physical therapy and out of work for at least 6 more weeks. Mom says they aren't starving, and they hate to take help away from someone else who might need it more, but I feel they need some help, as Christmas is going to be hard for them this year with only one income. Girl-Age 4 1/2, wear a size 5T. Loves Babydolls (especially the ones you can feed), Cabbage Patch, and is currently trying to redecorate her room in a Disney Princess Theme. Family #3- You can read about here: http://4042.appcomm.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11282&highlight=ryan+bake+sale I think this family probably needs a cash flow more than anything, that and lots of prayers. Here's how this is going to work. I will take donations from now until 12/22, which is the Friday before Christmas. if you have actual "stuff" to donate, PM me or email me at DaisiLou@aol.com and we'll arrange a time to meet up. If you'd like to donate cash, you are welcome to send me a paypal payment to that same email address, or I'll meet up with you to get it. If you give "stuff", please make sure you let me know which family it's for, and if you want your gift of money or gift cards to go to a specific family, please tell me so, otherwise, I will split everything 3 ways. Let me know if you have any questions and thank you all for giving to those who are a bit less fortunate than you are this year! Jennifer
Jennifer and all who helps these families: I just wanted to say you are doing a great thing at which I am sure you already knew that. It's people like you all that keeps me believing that people do have a heart & care for those less fortunate. Bless you all!
Jen, Going shopping tomorrow,,,Thanks for the info. I will let you know what I pick up and get with you on getting it to you. And again if you need any help with anything please let me know. God Bless you hun!!!
Thanks for doing all that work, Jenifer. I will talk with the kids and see what they want to do to give something back, and I probably PM you to figure out how to get a gift to you. Snuff
Jenn I have some stuff... should I just plan to bring it by your house one evening, or what is the drop off plan?
Oh, and one more thing. I don't think it will be an issue, but if for some reason I should have this baby early and can't get the money/goods to the families, would anyone like to volunteer to be my understudy?
DH and i will help ya out Jenn, just let me know when and where if little one decides to make an early appearance.
Thanks Kaci! I'm gonna try to have everything sorted as it comes in, but you never know what might happen, and I hate to leave it for my DH to try to handle on top of everything else, lol...
YW girl, figured it would be easy since i am a rock's throw from your house  ljk, if it happens, don't worry, i'll call ya for help
Cool beans! But ljk, you can't deliver anything unless you get the roaches out of your van, lol.... Thanks Webbie, for making us a sticky!
Yeah I can give them a Christmas gift that keeps on giving... (more roach babies that is!) That is true Christmas spirit!!
Nice to meet you, Jen! Hope you have an extra little stocking on the mantle, 'cuz I'm betting you're gonna have another family member before Christmas.
