Ok, I've given up on Mrs Tyler, guess I'm just getting the information tonight at orientation. I'm curious, Pickle, if you've gotten yours? My mail came today, and there was nothing from the school. I did email her yesterday but didn't get a response, although I didn't know if she'd even check it since she doesn't really have a class yet.

I know the teachers have been tied up yesterday and today in meetings most of the day. On top of that they are trying to get their rooms ready. They were not actually allowed in until Friday and probably have a lot going on...this includes decorating and organizing since everything has to come down at the end of the year. She's very nice and I'm sure she would have responded if she had gotten the email. I would just mention it to her tonight. Good luck to all. I hope everyone gets teachers that they are pleased with. We have always been very lucky. I cannot think of one we did not like...well maybe one:lol:

Well hopefully everyone had their Open House yesterday and all worries are as good as gone!

I am happy to report that not only were the 'supply lists' were no different than what was at Wal Mart or posted online from last year. I am also happy to report that I love both of my kid's 5th grade teacher's and can't wait to get this year started. The bus schedule, to and from school, is going to work with my schedule AND I would have hand picked both the morning and afternoon driver's of the bus. The only school supply I need is graph paper AND I signed up for the PTA again.

Decided to share some good news and feedback, for a nice Friday Morning change.

    Life is Good. :-D

Yep, I was satisfied with our 3rd grade teacher @ Riverwood last night too. I'm delighted that she is very experienced, we had a rough year last year with not one, but two brand new teachers. Supply list was the same here too, maybe they got some feedback last year from parents about the differences? Looking forward to a good year. 8)

Well our open house at Clayton Middle was a bust! We showed up at 6:15 (which was for all 6th grade and new students) and found out that all the 7th grade teachers had already left. They would not even let us go down the hall (they had the doors closed). So we did not get to meet any of her teachers. And to top it all off....some women (adults - though I use the term loosely) got into a fight right in front of everyone! They were in the hall by the office. I was in the office trying to get some information and dh and our girls were out in the hall. Geez! And we are all trying to teach our kids how to behave and the people that are supposed to be ADULTS are fighting.

Did anyone happen to go to the 7th grade orientation at Clayton middle? What did I miss? I sent an email to Ms. Suggs (her homebase teacher) and hopefully she will have time to get back to me...I know how busy they are since school starts on Monday.

Our orientation with Miss Tyler went well last night too, she seemed really nice and my son has 3 friends in his class so he's happy about that. Supply list was pretty much the same as online, only 3 things missing that I got this morning. So overall it went very well!

    Cooper Elementary Review

Went to the Open House at Cooper last night, everything went really well. A couple of things surprised me though.

After the principal made her opening remarks, there was a not-really-that-short prayer for the students/parents/family. I grew up in the Wake county school system where my daughter attended for two years. We never had any sort of "prayer" at all so I was a little surprised they had that. Is this common in Johnston county? Alot of parents looked just as surprised as I did. Wasn't there a controversy about prayer in school? Absolutely nothing wrong with it, just curious. :)

The principal made a comment about wanting to thank the custodians of the school (which was really nice). She said something about the custodians working so hard about taking down tables, moving things along, etc then she said something to the effect of "even when we are really mad at them, they still keep working with a smile on their face!"
Were we the only ones who heard that?
My neighbor asked me afterwards if I heard that too. Just wondering what she really said, but I really dont think that was it.

Other than that, everything went really smoothly! It was a bit hot in the gym but the staff & princial are very proud of their school and it showed. I thought the PTA staff was a pleasure to talk to, we loved her teacher, the media staff was extremely nice and the school itself was well kept.

Looking forward to a new school year!

What did you think of her TA? I personally think he's awesome.....LOL...he's my oldest son:lol: I know he's young (almost 19), but ya'll give him a chance. He is going to college to be a teacher and he is SOOOO good with kids. He spent last winter helping with the 5th grade as part of his Senior project. Right now he thinks it's pretty awesome to be only 1 of 3 males in the entire school. He is so excited to meet your kids on Monday. I for one will be sad when this weekend is over. I seems like it was just June 8th. Where did the summer go?

Had a great orientation last night both at Cleveland Elem and Middle. Casidycoop, 5th grader did not get who she was hoping for, but it doesn't matter...we just LOVE her teachers and she's going to have a great year! I waited in line to speak with each of 7th grader's teachers and again, are so pleased and we know we're going to have another great year!
