I had it out with the manager once myself about an incorrect check. But I didn't give in until he fixed the mistake. Stubbornness wins most arguments.
I bought a certificate from WRAL Team buying recently. On the left side of my certificate it says the following: Can certificate be used for alcohol? No Cash back for unused portion? No Not valid with any other promotion One per Table Offer good during all busines hours Saturday through Thursday Offer expires August 31st, 2010
The last time I went, it was the stepson - the manager was cool.. but deferred to the stepson. What? My kids don't run my household - nor would they run my business with an attitude like that.
I am horrible with names! What does the stepson look like? We've gone there at least 50 times and had only 1 minor incident but it was corrected.
CDH LOVE it there, never had a single problem and I go ALOT. I'm going to try to go up there for the fathers day steak special in a little bit as a matter of fact. You should definately have read the fine print on the website, etc. HOWEVER, once they took it as payment & the fact that it wasnt written on the gift card itself.... When the manager or whoever came up harrassing me, I would have told him to go fly a kite, turned and walked out. Honestly I enjoy a good conflict, and I'm not giving anyone advice, I can only tell you as to how I'd likely handle it. I have been escorted out of a few businesses over the years, and never gotten in any legal trouble.....YET I'd CALMLY take my reciept back up there, CALMLY explain that I didnt want to cause a scene in front of my guests, and CALMLY demand my $15 back. If I didnt get satisfaction, I'd purchase something small like a coke, and start CALMLY, explaining my story to anyone walkin by my table until JoCo's finest came to escort me out of the building. I could pay for the Coke in pennies so that they'd have to let me stay long enough to count them out to pay the tab Or once I saw a new Mustang on Capitol blvd covered in lemons parked at the gas station by capitol Ford with a huge sign explaining how many times the guy/girl had to take the car back in for service, it was only like 6 month old, etc. I thought that one was pretty clever. Dunno what ever happened to the car, but there were ALOT of people in Capitol Ford shirts around it trying to figure out what to do about it.
I've never had a bad experience at CDH and get along great with the manager. I wouldn't give a plug nickel for the bullsnot NYRod is peddlin'. You're talking about a guy who claims he went to Cornell but can't answer a single question about the campus that can't be found on a website. The rules on the use of the coupon were clearly stated. I think that you should actually be apologizing to the people you raised a fuss with, andrew...and ask webbie to delete this thread. You were wrong plain and simple.
I last went in the CDH during the NCAA tourney. Nice place but in a bad location. It would be better over near 70 instead of out there in the boondocks.
There is a big difference between being southern and being a redneck. I generally like CDH, my husband and I always enjoy the food and the service. I can't tolerate the fried things as they are just too greasy for me, but I love the hamburgers and the nachos!
I did read the rules but I'll admit I missed the "one per table" part. But again, half my people could have been at another table. It would not make a difference on the price. Anyway, the point here is how he handled it. The transaction was complete and it's not my problem if your waitress didn't do something right. And again it's not a "coupon". I PAID for it. Regardless of the rules on the item, why would he come out and complain to me how much money he does or does not make on this? Again that is not my problem. I could have come in there just me and 1 other person, got a $25 bill, used the promotion, and owed him absolutely nothing other than tax. And this would have completely followed the rules on the promotion as there was no minimum purchase required. Instead we spent way more than the amount on the promotion so we still owed money. Why would they argue with this? It doesn't make sense. They have now lost repeat business and he will lose a lot of money in the long run. You mention I should apologize to "the people I raised a fuss with". Who might that be? And why should the customer apologize? Do you work for CDH?
There were 8 total people! Are you freaking kidding me that this manager caught an attitude about this and there are people arguing it was okay for him to do so? But it would have been okay for two tables of 1 to use? It's bad business. Period. And with a history of being a jerk and seeing how the folks there opearate with their customers first hand it's a shame that they run the place.
I sincerely hope you are not including me when you say "people". I never said that the manager was right in catching an attitude nor am I defending that behavior. On the other hand, I've noticed that putting words in other people's mouths is pretty common here. Anyway, Andrew originally thought he was in the right on the coupon thing and started this thread. Had he paid attention to the rules, there would have been no confrontation with the manager in the first place, hence no need for this thread. Now andrew is saying that it's the waitresses fault for taking the coupon in the first place and that it's not his problem. That's pretty typical in our society these days. So many people point the finger and blame others when they are clearly at fault. It seems to me that the manager was in the right about the coupon and andrew was the one that instigated the confrontation with his "It's not my problem anymore" attitude. I just would have handled it differently. Polite behavior and a civil tone go a long way to avoiding confrontations of this sort .
Oh please. Talk about pointing the finger....at everyone but your buddy the manager. And you can't argue with the multitudes of people (many of whom have posted about it here) that have had similar confrontations/problems. So with so many stories of other problems, it's hard to feel sorry for the guy that he got so "ripped off".
I never said he was my buddy, but hey...why let the truth get in the way? I'm not arguing with anyone, just stating my opinion. You on the other hand... Okay, so you don't feel sorry for him. I don't either. I just know that andrew was wrong about the coupon and he has admitted it. Good for him.
All I have to say is I always liked the Draft House - until my last visit, a few days ago. The AC is obviously not working properly. I'm warm natured to begin with, so I about melted in there - couldn't finish my order - that's how awful it felt in there. The servers were all miserable looking too. The couple at the next table were complaining about it - but obviously management doesn't care. My sister was there a couple days after me and said it was horribly hot when she went as well Until I hear you can see your breath, I won't go back.
