Complete 540 Project Visualization - from NCDOT Feb 2018

Looks like on average, Google Maps is showing a 10 minute savings when going from Clayton to Holly Springs and using NC 540 instead of NC42/NC55 or I40/US1/NC55.

 

was glad to notice 540 was now on goggle maps yesterday.

 

Google Maps is still funny with 540, though. If I exit off I-40 onto 540 heading west, Google Maps knows I'm not on I-40 anymore, but it doesn't seem to realize that traffic can go west on 540. Sooo, it shows me going EAST on the Clayton Bypass! And then once I get to Benson Rd, it finally "snaps back to reality" and shows my actual location. Very strange!

 

This week so far, (4 days), 3 days I 40 was 44 - 46 min from work to home, and 540 was listed at 40 min. (google maps). Wednesday 40 was 55 min, compared to 40 min 540. I think 15 min will be my rule of thumb. if 40 is 15 min longer than 540 I'll go 540. Not sure if 540 is the reason, but 40 has been better this week.
