Although you make an excellent point... Parents have got to step up their game & stay active in their children's lives! It still isn't Our place or the school systems place to just assume they don't care about their children bc they don't lay eyes on the parents. And in return make such impacting decisions involving Our children's well being without consulting the parents first. To much judgement going on these days and not enough support for one another. These same teachers that expect to see the parents at school events are going to find themselves in the same situation when they're pulled between their jobs and volunteering at their child's school. All I'm saying is it should be a partnership, If these kids have support at home & School w/ both on the same page, this is less likely to occur.
That would be the perfect world which we do not live in. There is slack on both sides and there should not be on either!
Not perfect, its just a matter of having respect for one another. And working together as a team. All though that is a difficult task, it can be done, don't you think?
I am a very involved parent.....I know of many others that are not. Our teachers this year were very involved and fabulous......next year might be another story. Yes, it absolutly could be done....if everyone got on the same page. I am not being a pessimist.....just being real.
Well, my son went to his dads for the weekend and they happened to go to one of their friends house for an anniversary party and my son tells me these people had a 12 year old boy that they were letting drink beer. My 10 year old looks at me and says "mom, what kind of parent would do that?" My answer is.... " A dumb one." So, when you have parents allowing this crap, the kids seem to think its ok.
~~AMEN~~ I called their dad and told him he needs to not take my kids around people like that. I'd rather mine stay at home!
don't even get me started on the influential nonsense mine have been exposed to just by a select few fifth graders....
That is disgusting! Plus, if this kid went to school and brags about drinking and stuff like that to his friends, which I'm sure he would- someone could call and report those parents! Can't imagine that kids future..........:?
Wurd sister! may they all go in many directions and never see each other next year!!!! freakin shame they are contained to the same hall!!!
We had to watch those too Peaches. I had nightmares for a bit..but I still to this day do not drink and drive.
I was reading my hometowns newspaper online.. and here is an interesting article about what they are doing to try to educate kids against impaired driving. http://www.wickedlocal.com/weston/news/x273554838/Students-get-interesting-lesson-on-drunk-driving
Wow thats a great idea. I think my DD had to wear the goggles in drivers ed class. But all they did was walk around in them I like the idea of them having to try and drive with them on. thanks Tassy!!
I think it gives them more of a sense of the damage they could do or inflict on someone else... just imagine if they are told every cone they hit was a pedestrian, or another car.
Don't they have the booze it and loose it trailer at the State Fair and other functions? They have those beer goggles for you to try on and you look at a video of driving footage. They should also add some ugly girls. lol
