DWI Lawyer recommendations..

    Alot folks on the street opt for the breathalyzer when given the option. They don't consider the time involved in getting a warrant - they're too drunk. It's just a ride to the magistrate, really - and hour at the most. And you still lose your license for a year for refusing the test.

    But that's what lawyers do, advise you on how to get out of stuff - whether you are guilty or not, and get your license back for you. It's simpler to just not drink and drive. :)

    and a whole lot cheaper if the numbers I have heard people quote regarding the process are accurate.

    The breathalyzer test that is. That's something that cops don't carry around in their car however. The Alco-Sensor is what they carry and that's not a true breathalyzer, even though they call it a "mini-breathalyzer". So you CAN refuse the Alco-Sensor without losing your license. That's why lawyers advise you never to perform the "mini" field tests. Sometimes however they have checkpoints that use a BAT-mobile (BAT = Breath Alcohol Testing), a mobile magistrates office with a real breathalyzer and a phone to call your lawyer.
