Easley Wants Low-income Students to Go to College Debt-Free

    Great, technology without the rest of the education to support it really makes the difference. Knowing how to operate a network means very little if you want an engineer or scientist that would be generating the data for that network. A vocational/technical education is good if you are wanting a technician, but it does not help that much if you wanted to prepare someone for college.

    I agree but they still get it. Every single year.

    You just described my job. These schools get thousands and thousands of dollars each year for technology. The poorer they are (depending on how many kids get free lunches) the more money they get. The school systems get anywhere from 20% to 90% discounts off their telecom bills and every 5 yrs they can throw it out and start over. I've been to a lot of these poor school districts and they have some pretty nice set ups. The sad part is that most school districts dont know how to fill out the forms to get the money so they hire outside consultants and pay them up to 10% of that money to do what 2 state agencies can help them do for free. We have consultants robbing our schools, Johnston County included. But that is another story. Don't get me started on eRate.
