Mine too. Granddaddy sitting in "his" chair, already showered and in his pajamas and robe, with his huge glass of buttermilk with pepper and crumbled cornbread in it. That mean he was ready to settle in for the evening...starting by watching Hee Haw.
I'll hit the big 40 September 12th. I remember, as a kid, my mom forcing me to watch shows like The Waltons and Little House on The Prairie. I used to complain to her about watching them. These days I just complain about not having more shows like those on TV.
I don't get into astrology so I wouldn't really know. We're still friends though. Never even went through a messy divorce. We both realized that we were young and not thinking about the long haul of marriage.
That's the trouble with young-uns these days, they give up on marriage too easily! Just kidding, I have an ex too ya know. Seriously, I can't picture you married to anyone other than the person you're married to right now.
I know you come from a Mopar family, Mark, and so do I. What I'd give to be able to go out and buy a new Mopar!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If only they existed. My father worked for Chrysler for many, many years. He always drove company products, period. I have some old Cadillacs now, but I'd love to have an old Mopar in place of one of them..... Ideaily a '67 Fury III 2-door hardtop in yellow. That was our family car growing up, replaced by a '74 Plymouth Scamp 2-door hardtop in Frosty Green Metallic. By the way, the '67 replaced his '54 Plymouth (with a '61 Chevy between, but that's a real hate story). The main seal on that @#$%^ Chevy's probably's still leaking!
A middle aged woman had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital. While in the operating table, she had a near death experience. Seeing God, she asked, "Is my time up"? God said, "No, you have another 43 years, 2 months and 8 days to live." Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the hospital and have a face-lift, brow lift, lip enhancement, boob job, liposuction, and a tummy tuck. After her last operation, she was released from the hospital. While crossing the street on her way home, she was hit by an ambulance and killed. Arriving in front of God, she demanded, "I thought you said I had another 40 years? Why didn't you pull me out of the path of the ambulance?" God replied, "Girrrlllllll, I didn't even recognize you!"
Oy, mopar family... My dad always had a car that was about 2-3 years old. 1965 Plymouth Wagon 1967 Chrysler Wagon 1972 Chrysler Newport 1975 Imperial 1978 Chrylser New Yorker 1982 Chrysler LeBaron 1985 Chrylser 5th ave. 1990 Chrylser LeBaron more in between, but now 2002 Dodge Mini Van and 1966 Imperial for shows also a Buick wagon at one time that i learned to drive in, and others such as the Dart that my mom drove. Too many to remember Prior to Chrysler he had Studebakers, as we had a family friend that worked there, and would sell my dad his 2 year old one when he got a new one.
My first car was a '72 Chrysler Newport Custom 2-door hardtop. Gold with black vinyl top and interior with the high-back seats. 400 2-barrel. Bought it in June, 1981, just after graduating high school, with 58,000 miles. In June of '81, no one wanted a big car, so you could get a nice one cheap. Paid $950 for it. Drove it through college and sold it for $750 in October, 1985, when the new '86 Turismo I had on order came in.
My father had quite a variety: -1939 Ford -1939 Pontiac -1954 Plymouth -1961 Chevy Biscayne -1967 Plymouth Fury III -1974 Plymouth Scamp -1976 Plymouth Volare (wheels fell off at 600 miles) -1976 Plymouth Volare (replacement disaster) -1985 Plymouth Horizon -1988 Ford Escort -1992 Mazda Protege LX -2001 Mazda Protege ES 2.0 When my oldest brother was in college, he had a 1962 Pontiac Tempest, with the engine in front and the transmission in the rear. Later, he had a '68 Datsun 510. My other brother had a nice '68 Mustang convertible with a 289 in it, which he promptly wrapped around a pole. The engine lived on in a Cougar. He was downgraded to a '73 Pinto.
Actually, I think the '39 Pontiac was my parents' first car, around 1950 or 1951. They always got a kick about making a trip to Atlantic City with it, and burning a case of oil..... Especially pulling up at a fancy hotel for the valet to park it with that crop duster smoking all over the place!
