bp in garner across from agri-supply was at 4/29 a few minutes ago. 70 cents a gallon in one day based on what the hurricane "MIGHT" do? last week's NO hurricane didn't even bump the price. ridiculous. drill here, drill now!

Yes, it is! At the Citgo and BP, its 4.29 and on the other side, at Shell its 3.89. We were just at White Oak, stopped at BJ's - OMG! the lines....people where lined up past Hallmark waiting to get in!!! We were just ahead of it getting that bad, plus they had one pump blocked off (both sides)...still 3.58. I guess folks are panicking - saw several filling up gas containers too.

$4.69 here on Hwy 70 in Clayton. I did manage to get gas at T.R. Lee's, on main street, for $4.19 a few minutes ago.

Actually some of the unbranded suppliers went up as much as a dollar a gallon and yes this is a FACT! Branded suppliers however did not do this big of a hike. If you will look at some of the gas stations they are already at 4.00 or more today. YOU ARE EXACTALLY RIGHT these big oil companys are sticking it to all of us. They are blaiming it on the refineries shutting down because of IKE. FYI the SPOT market is already up as much as .25 cents today. I have had several customers raise there prices because of supply. We are 2 days out right now as far as delivering gas because of this shortage. we have 3 stores out of gas now and it will be tomorrow before they get gas! SO yes there is a shortage and yes you are gonna see prices rise higher and higher! so be ready

That's exactly it. There was a rumour yesterday that gas was going to jump $1.50 today. People panicked, and the media lapped it up.

This morning I was watching WRAL news and they had a field reporter talking about how the gas prices were going up, fifty cents here, a dollar there. Meanwhile, behind him was a Crown station where the gas was only $3.5~ (I couldn't see the last numeral).

Talk about price gouging - $4.29 per gallon is crap. Every gas station that I passed this a.m. ranged from $3.57 to $3.63 so how do those few gas stations feel they can charge $4.29. I decided to fill up last night just in case - thank goodness.

It actually depends on when the CROWN got there load of gas. For instance yesterday CITGO gas was around 3.54 a gallon today it is about 3.91, tomorrow it will be about 4.00 depends on how much the branded will go up tonight. It is al BS i think.

Once again, this is not price gouging it is the free market. You are not forced to by gas there, go to the other places listed that are far less.

It was still 3.68 a gallon at BJ's at White Oak at 10am this morning, but the lines were 5 deep at the pumps. Craziness!

Easley said in a statement. "Wholesale gas prices are up less than 20 cents a gallon over the last few days. Therefore, consumers should not see prices rise substantially more than this rise in the wholesale price."

3.59 to 4.29 does not equal 20 cents

I went to lunch at 4042 and the stations were at $4.12, with the exceptions of the HESS stations they were at $3.59. Came back from lunch and all the stations on the Cleveland Rd. side of 4042 were $4.19. They jumped $.07 in 30 minutes!
