I actually love Thanksgiving most of all, its like Christmas without the gifts and stress. I have had such a wonderful year this year, in so many ways. I am just happy. I will try and tone down the Christmasness till after Thanksgiving, k?:mrgreen::mrgreen:

I agree 100% Kaci. I refuse to stress over the holidays this year. Usually by now I would be done with my shopping . . . I haven't even really got a good start yet. I'm planning to keep it very simple this year and just enjoy the meaning of it all.

Kroger has turkeys 39 cents a lb with your VIC card. One per card. Does that mean per day or per transaction, or overall?

As I said back on page one:
By the way, Harris Teeter has "VIC Cards", Kroger has "Plus Cards"

Not as red as mine when I handed the cashier at Lowes my Food Lion card. Then again, her face was even redder after she tried to scan it three times before she realized my mistake.

I just got my turkey at Kroger. They had quite a few, but none bigger than 15 pounds (at the 39c price anyway). And that special price ends tomorrow, by the way.

Just remember to get that discount at Food Lion you have to spend 35 bucks after your MVP card to get the 59 cents per pound.

We went to Krogers too, thanks for the heads up. We picked up 2 14lb-ers we have family coming so one is baking and one is Deep frying, let the competition begin! since I'll be deep frying mine I'll go ahead and make skewers of shrimp & scallops wrapped in bacon and of course mulled wine to pass my time.

FYI- I asked the manager in the meat department at the FL at 42 about price matching the turkeys with the Smithfield stores. He said they only price matched from competitiors, not each other.

So, I paid .67 per pound for my turkey.

Oh, yes, they are that good.

It is also very dangerous. You will see news reports on Friday about three or four houses that burned down due to someone trying to deep fry a turkey.

But, if you are very careful, stay sober and attentive, it is well worth the trouble and you may never go back to roasting.

Yeah I know I have heard the stories about the fires. I have never cooked any turkey at all, kind of sad lol.
    Thanks MOM! lol
