I found a kitten in a drain where i work Had my dad and DH out there with the top of the drain off crawling around trying to trap this kitty she had been down there for 2 days no food no water she couldnt have been more than 3 to 4 weeks old. She is now a inside kitten and VERY loving! we have had her for 2 weeks now and she is eating good but still have to bottle feed. Vet said to do it for at least 2 more weeks but only every 6 to 8 hours since she was eating so good. My DH had just rescued a stray in the parking lot at Wells so now i have 2 rescued kitties! and they are sooo loving.
I totally understand your frustration about irresponsible people who don't spay/neuter their animals and let them run loose. Our neighborhood has a very large feral cat colony, and I found four kittens under my porch last week. Thankfully they were old enough to be weaned, so they are now at a friend's house being fostered and will be sterilized as soon as they are old enough. I want to try and trap Momma and get her spayed and then release her back into the colony, but I haven't seen her since last week, so I don't even know where to put food out. And just FYI, SNAP NC now comes to Johnston County (the animal shelter parking lot) and does spay/neuter for $35, IIRC. That includes a rabies shot and I think a feline distemper shot. They also come to Garner.
