We unfortunately can't leave the door open too often b/c of location of the washer. In a small closet in the hall and if door is open, you can't get by it and the kids slam it back shut...urghh. We do leave it open every night though right before we go to bed. I do agree the shaking is bad and you should definitely not get one if you have an upstairs laundry area. Any other tips on that front loader mildew problem, let me know. We do leaev the door open at night and it literally runs all day so it's closed then. We also wipe out the ring every few days w/ bleach. Thanks for the tip.

I notice they are stackable. Has anyone put the dryer on top of the washer? Does that help reduce the vibrations?

We bought a Maytag set from Lowe's five months ago. Couldn't be happier with them.

This is the one we have

    http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=293834-46-WTW6700TU&lpage=none

It is the biggest washing machine made for home use (even bigger than a front load). All the features of a front load without the smell and leaky door.

I LOVE this washer and the dryer has STEAM.

One of my best friends bought the same one after I recommended it to her. She loves hers too.

Lowes at 40/42 was very good to us. They gave us a discount and interest/payment free financing even though they were not running any specials.
