There are restaurants around Raleigh/Durham serving free meals to people with IDs. Food banks are collecting extra items and passing out to government employees who are furloughed. Some banks are giving out zero interest loans, up to a certain amount, for a year. Americans are here to help one another!
Patriotism comes in many different forms, and you cited a few of them here. Thanks for passing this along. It's a good reminder of why I love this country so much, despite its flaws.
Central Carolina Food Bank is accepting donations now to distribute food to the thousands of North Carolina government employees who may need assistance in the coming weeks. More than 40 % of Americans are 1 or 2 paychecks away from the same situation.
