"Eugenics" was a poor choice of words for such an organization. I wonder what the specific reasons were for abolishing this board. I'll bet it had more to do with "feelings" and political correctness than failing to meet objectives. We make so many lame excuses for these problems ...its poverty ...its consumerism ...its the government's fault ...its our culture ...etc, etc. It is the failure of parents to do their job of teaching some basic form of socially responsible morality to their children. If just one parent in a ghetto can do it, then all these excuses are just that. Gangs are kids looking for acceptance in a group that they can't get from society because their "so-called" parents screwed up.
How about "The Department for State Diversity" I wonder how many gays and other non "normal" folks underwent forced sterilization through this wonderful organization.
I found this scholarly article on the history of gangs in L.A. http://www.streetgangs.com/history/hist01.html The author, Alejandro A. Alonso, is recognized by the American Bar Association as an expert on gangs. He traces the name "crips" to a 1972 newspaper story about a gang that called themselves the Avenue Cribs and carried canes and walking sticks. I'm inclined to agree with Ken that a lot of the apparent gang activity we see around here is wannabe, copycat stuff. Which is not to say it's not serious business, it certainly is that.
I noticed on a stop sign at Indian camp and Polenta that it has been spray painted black. I couldnt make out if it was a gang tag or just scibblings of a mad man.
there are at least 2 signs on Raleigh Rd between Elevation and 210 that has this written on it. and its happened in the past few days.
The signs on Indian Camp towards the other end have been spray painted. I have had one person tell me it was kids and another say it is gang related.
Tawiii wrote when I lived in Florida they had past a law stating that no one under 18 could buy spray paint. I am not sure if that fixed anything but its better then doing nothing
