Here's a video to make you smile (and/or cry as in my case) I will dedicate this to my son. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ng8F9jMBViw&mode=related&search= God bless you all and may you have a safe and wonderful weekend.
mommy3: that was fantastic! George Younce, who has gone on to be with the Lord, is my absolutely favorite bass singer of all time. I had never seen him in a video outside a quartet/Gaithers venue. I love fishing with my daughter. I spend most of the time baiting her hook and taking fish off for her, but it is a time of unspeakable joy and fellowship with her. The first time I took her fishing on Falls Lake when she was 4 years old, she and I were with my daddy. When she caught her first fish she got so excited she let go of her rod & reel and it's still sitting at the bottom of Falls Lake. We still laugh about that day.

Kent.. maybe you can help with this... I had a little inspirational story type thing and can no longer find it. ...Probably even posted it here at 4042 some tome ago. ...Any way, I can't find it. It may have been called The Dying Ember or something like that. It was about a man who had a visit from his pastor and they sat by a fireplace. They had little conversation but the pastor commented on how the man hadn't attended church in sometime..... but it was about the man losing faith (his faith being the dying ember that was moved too far from the fire) and it becoming bright again when it was placed closer to the fire (God). The gist of it was that God is always there and it's never too late. It always gave (gives) me hope every time I read it.. I'd love to have it again if any one out there knows what was or has a copy.
nsanemom22: you did a wonderful job all by yourself in that short story Here's what you may have been referring to: A pastor heard that one of his parishioners was going about announcing to one and all that he would no longer attend church services. This rebellious parishioner was advancing the familiar argument that he could communicate with God just as easily out in the fields with nature as his setting for worship. One winter evening, the pastor called on this reluctant member of his flock for a friendly visit. The two men sat before the fireplace making small talk, but studiously avoiding the issue of church attendance. After a while, the pastor took the tongs from the rack next to the fireplace and pulled a single coal from the fire. He placed the glowing ember on the hearth. As the two watched in silence, the coal quickly ceased burning and turned an ashen gray, while the other coals in the fire continued to burn brightly. The pastor's silent message was not lost on the parishioner. After a long pause, he turned to the pastor and said "I'll be back at services next Sunday." - - - - - - - One of my favorite songs of all time. Answered Prayers A voyaging ship was wrecked during a storm at sea and only two of the men on it were able to swim to a small, desert-like island. The two survivors, not knowing what else to do, agreed that they had no other recourse but to pray to God. However, to find out whose prayer was more powerful, they agreed to divide the territory between them and stay on opposite sides of the island. The first thing the first man prayed for was food. The next morning, the first man saw a fruit-bearing tree on his side of the land, and he was able to eat its fruit. The other man's parcel of land remained barren. After a week, the first man was lonely and he decided to pray for a wife. The next day, another ship was wrecked, and the only survivor was a woman who swam to his side of the land. On the other side of the island, there was nothing. Soon the first man prayed for a house, clothes, more food. The next day all of these were given to him. However, the second man still had nothing. Finally, the first man prayed for a ship, so that his wife and he could leave the island. In the morning, he found a ship docked at his side of the island. The first man boarded the ship with his wife and decided to leave the second man on the island. He considered the other man unworthy to receive God's blessings, since none of his prayers had been answered. As the ship was about to leave, the first man heard a voice from Heaven booming, "Why are you leaving your companion on the island?" "My blessings are mine alone, since I was the one who prayed for them," the first man answered. "His prayers were all unanswered, and so he does not deserve anything." "You are mistaken!" the voice rebuked him. "He had only one prayer, which I answered. If not for that, you would not have received any of my blessings." "Tell me," the first man asked the voice, "what did he pray for that I should owe him anything?" "He prayed that all your prayers be answered." For all we know, our blessing are not the fruits of our prayers alone, but those of another praying for us. When Jesus died on the cross he was thinking of you!
Kent, the last line in your previous post made me think of that song, so I went looking on you-tube. I found several different videos by various artists, but Jake Hess was one of the greatest, so I picked his.
