I think at this point I"m going to stand out in the storm ... remember Forest Gump (they were on the boat) "Lutenent Dan" was on top of the mast cussing... I feel like doing that. Here's the doppler thing.. http://www.wral.com/weather/doppler5000/?m=centralnc&p=1hrloop
A tornado warning was issued until 5:45 p.m. for Wake, Chatham, Harnett and Lee counties. National Weather Service radar indicated a tornado at 4:53 p.m. north of Moncure moving east at 45 mph toward Holly Springs and Fuquay-Varina. "Hail is being detected by radar from eastern Chatham County in the west to Nash and Franklin counties in the east," WRAL Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel reported. National Weather Service spotters reported hail of up to nickel-size falling in Louisburg at about 4:30 p.m. Golf ball-sized hail was reported in Siler City just after 4:40 p.m. Fishel said hail as big as 1 3/4 inches was spotted in Alamance County just before 5 p.m. At 4:48 p.m. Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm moving eastbound at 40 mph from Pittsboro through Jordan Lake, Cary and Apex. Quarter-sized hail is likely with this storm, according to the weather service. Severe thunderstorm warnings were extended through 5:45 p.m. for parts of Wilson, Edgecombe, Nash and Halifax counties in central North Carolina. The warning means that a storm has been spotted in those areas. The threat of large hail, strong winds and isolated tornadoes remains through sundown. Severe thunderstorm watches extended until 8 p.m. for many counties. A "watch" is a head-up for weather conditions that have yet to be observed. THis **** freaks me out!
i just heard that if the storm continues on its current track, Willow Springs, etc are in the track of the cell with the tornado activity in it. i'm skeeered to leave work
will do! Y'all hold onto your hats... Greg Fischel just said that within the next few minutes McGees Xroads and Willow Spring could see the cell from the storm that "could" see the tornadic activity. (I'm listening to the live feed while I try to finish todays work)
Hmmm, didn't think of doing that. I dont have the TV on because of the fear of a lightning strike. But I *could* use a new computer  Thanks!
DH just called from home and said the hail was the size of golfballs, said he is saving a few in the freezer so i can see them
Gotta get out of here, wish me luck - gotta meet kellbell at cvs at 6:30 and not sure how long it will take me to get home - you ready to go too Tassy, i'll look for ya on 40
My son ran out just now & got a cup full for the freezer so he could show DH when he makes it home. I see some other neighborhood kids out doing the same thing. Poor kids were deprived of snow this winter ... so I guess they are just making do with what they have. Somehow snowball fights seem a little more fun than hail fights
