    Frogger,
Thanks for sharing Lucy's story. A week ago we took in an 18 month old Brussels Griffon in need of a family. We've named him Chewbacca (Chewy). He's the sweetest little thing - all 6 1/2 pounds of him. The entire family came to adore him almost immediately. Yesterday I took Chewy for his first visit to the vet since we brought him home so we could get his shots up to date. Unfortunatly he tested positive for mature heart worms and he had lots of baby heart worms in his poo. He starts treatments on Thursday. I'm hoping he makes it through ok. Chewy really has a WONDERFUL personality and he deserves to have a l-o-n-g happy life :) Hopefully he will be as healthy as Lucy in another couple of months :)

Good luck, Melynda. It was harrowing, but we stuck to the vet's orders and it turned out well :).

Today Chewy received his first treatment. We go back for the 2nd one tomorrow morning. So far he seems a little sore & tired - but his tail is still wagging :)

Good luck, Melynda! Keep us informed on how he's doing ... and if you can get any pics, I'd love to see what he looks like! (Maybe after he's feeling better). Try to keep him calm and quiet, and he'll pull through ... we'll be thinking of y'all!

Good luck Melynda. Be sure to listen and follow your vets orders and all will be well.

(Maybe if this thread would go away so would the heartworms!?!?)
