Wow, there's gonna be lots of chicken eatin' going on tonight! Chicken pastry is a treat for us. We get it at Grandma's house, at family reunions, at restaurants, etc.... I don't know why I don't make it, it isn't like it's hard or anything. :?
We eat a lot of chicken, not my favorite, but it is DS & DH's. I usually stock up when it's on sale for $1.99/lb at Lowes for the boneless skinless kind. You can cook it a bazillion ways.
Pretty much (except for the washing the pot thing, LOL). I also thicken my broth. I add some poultry seasoning and butter too. Yeah, it's real healthy!
ok, do y'all say dinner for lunch, or dinner for supper? i call them lunch and supper, avoiding the whole dinner confusion entirely and the reason that popped into my head is that i believe the original thing on hee haw was "hey grandpa, what's for supper?"
sounds like good ole comfort food, just thinking i might surprise DH with it this weekend since it is his birthday and i never fix it.
i usually say lunch and dinner but i know my granny called lunch dinner cause it was the biggest meal of the day on a farm.
We are trying a new chili recipe at our house tonight. This one uses salsa. Good cold rainy weather food.
HA HA HA!! That's what I was trying to quote! Oops! I say both, dinner and supper, for the evening meal. If I actually cook, it's dinner. If I just heat and serve, it's supper. Lunch is always called lunch, although sometimes it's technically brunch.
We're having baked potato soup (from a dry mix). Speaking of chick/dimplings - I usually cook my chicken in the crock pot while I'm at work (just a little water and some bay leaves), then take it out as soon as I get home, put in freezer or fridge (to cool), start broth for dumplings, then debone the chicken while the dumplings start cooking. I also use the flat frozen Annie's dumplings.......yummy!! I have made it (back in the day when I was really watching my weight..lol) with tofu/wonton wrappers. Just slice them into strips and drop in like the dumplings (they're not frozen, so doesn't take long) it was actually pretty good..
I made chicken breast, marinated in balsic dressing, corn on the cob and parmesan noodles. My picky eater ate everything.
I like recipe sharing on here. With cold weather and Thanksgiving coming up pretty soon, here is a good one that I just dug out of my recipe box. Turkey Soup Leftover turkey (2+ cups) 2 small cans chicken broth 3 cans Del Monte Pasta Style tomatoes 2+ cups prepared mashed potatoes (leftovers work great!) corn, peas, green beans (frozen) as much as desired 3 bay leaves, dash thyme & basil Mix all together adding water to get desired consistency. Cook over medium heat for 30 minutes. Lower to warm for 15 - 30 minutes Here's a good spinach recipe. Spinach Casserole 2 pkgs frozen chopped spinach 2 eggs 1 can cream of celery soup 1 cup mayo 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded 1 tsp lemon juice 15 Ritz crackers, crumbled 1/2 stick butter, melted Cook & drain spinach. Beat whole egg til fluffy. Combine all ingredients, except crackers & butter. Pour into greased 8x12 casserole dish. Mix cracker crumbs in melted butter. Sprinkle on top of casserole. Bake @ 350 for 40-45 minutes. Both of these are YUMMY!
I've heard it called Chicken Slick... Exactly 'round here we're ...they're... having hotdogs :ack: I'm having beeeens. I just want some beans. I quit Atkin's. I missed my cereal...and beeeens!
Had a turkey roast that simmered in the crockpot with potatoes, carrots and onion soup mix all afternoon. Nothing like coming home to the yummy smell in the house and dinner being already made.
I made chili, and it was goooood! Got enough for leftovers tonight, think I'll make some grilled cheese to go with it. Mmm mmm mmm!
