If anything these signs are for the pending headache Johnstonians will see from the Crawleigh project where they are repairing all of I-440 from Poole Rd. to Lake Wheeler. This is going to be a huge mess IMO. They have been contacting major employers and encouraging them to offer flex time, carpooling, etc. to help the traffic situation.

I believe they also plan on beginning work on adding a lane to I-40 between US 70 and US 70 bypass. I do not think work is slated to begin until 2017 though. I have seen the surveyors out there and there are aerial photography targets all over the area.

 

I'll be surprised if they even have a route determined by the end of next year.

BUTTT on some DOT plans, it'll actually be I640, not 540, and the route has been determined. But I know most of that is complete BS.

I kinda hope they hurry the eff up and get it done.. lol.
