Wayne, Teen just told me that I missed scanning one of her spreadsheets that she did. I will scan it now, post it and we must sign off because she needs rest for exams tomorrow. The two on the new one scanned that she is working on is cross 2A and 2B that they are comparing it to and I must have missed picking that one up when I scanned. You are a life savior and hopefully tomorrow she and I can get on to see how you explain it to her. Thanks from all my heart, Sherry
This is the spreadsheet that the teen prepared and must do 2A and 2B. The numbers will make more sense that I posted when you see that spreadsheet. Thanks, Sherry
OK, It is a little more clear now with the spread sheet. The F1 total is simple all of the 2a & 2b which are added together (593+617+594+589 = 2393) the total '+' The F3 is almost as simple with the 1208 confusing number coming from the total (625+583=1208 vg) in line 2b and the other two coming from 2a (300+296= 596 '+') and (311+295=606 vg) It is the F2 that is confusing to me as the total vg from 2a and 2b add up (154+143+110+144 = 551 vg) but not the '+' (411+441+471+456=1779)which is not the 1809 needed to make the equation balance. Somewhere there are supposed to be 30 more '+' I am somehow missing
Wayne, Wonderful. She kept adding and rechecking her numbers and then passed it off to me while she studied for another class and when I used her spreadsheet into one I created the equation did not equal the numbers her teacher came up with. She will head into school today with all of this information and ask the teacher again. Some of the other teens calling last night were having the same problem while others did not have there spreadsheet ready to be to see the final equation. I hope he helps set that light bulb off with them today. Will fill you in when she gets home. Thank you so very much for helping. Sherry
Any word on where I was missing the 30 '+' flies? I was trying to figure out today just how long it had been since my last genetics class. I think we were using Pteridinium in similar labs .... (hint: Vendian biota or 'first animals')
I'll get the papers out and let you know. The teacher wrote it in great detail and I'll scan it and Post. Something so simple that we just missed it. :jester: Thanks for all your help. She did tell the teacher about your help and he was impressed. Sherry
