    Cleo,

I'm with ya on this one. Lord knows that I am close enough to the school situation that I have a pretty good view of things. And we do support local schools. Don't think anyone wants to argue that point.

Don't believe that I'd be any more comfortable with Thee Doll House sponsoring the cheerleaders at GCAA thank known driniking establishments sponsoring a ball team, i.e. any those businesses who, just as legally purvey their wares, are probably not the examples of behaviors that we want children to emulate.

Good grief Charlie Brown....... I thought the discussion had ended.
Draft House food rocks - service on Non smoking side is very good. tenders on bar side tend to be very moody at times. I dont want an attitude - just a beer !

Actually, I agree too Cleo (and Hatt).

To me, in my opinion, its more advertising then sponsoring. What a great way to sell your business to a group of adults then having children wear shirts that advertise drinking, tattoos, half-naked women, etc.

I personally would prefer to see Chuck E Cheese and places like Frankies (Raleigh) sponsor kid's teams.
    Just my opinon though.

AGreed that we would app prefer "safe" sponsors. have to remind ya though, that the reason they CAN sponsor stuff is becaseu they make a profit. If no profit, then no ability to sponsor/support.

As a small business operator, I am faced often with the "opportunity" to help support worthy cause "A". But, because we all know that my discretionary budget is finite, and even "B" demonstrated that my support of them was returned by allowing me to advertise or promote with them my goods and services, I'm gonna support "B".

Not saying that I don;t want to support all who ask. Until I become wealthy enough that I donlt have to worry about a balanced account, then I have to pick and choose. I look at my support as using some of the "seed corn". If I throw it away, my business dies. Then I am unable to help anyone.

We started our business to make a difference, not a million. If I make a mill, while I'm making a diff, OK and I'll be grateful. Until then, reality prevails.

Registration ends the middle of January, draft day is Feb 2 (if i remember correctly), practices to start the week of the 18th and go from there. The soccer committee is having a meeting i think on the 9th of December to hammer out Spring season details and the coaches should know something shortly thereafter.

The GCAA probably would as well. However you have to be real with the situation. While there are quite a few businesses in the 40/42 area, if you look at the number of teams, in all sports in all seasons, there are not that many businesses to go around. This past soccer season there were 42 teams. Add baseball, softball and basketball in the mix and what is happening is that coaches are going to the same sponsors over and over. Well sometimes, for whatever reasons, Sponsor Fred might not be able to sponsor the next season. Same with Sponsor Jim, Harry and Tom. So you have to look elsewhere. Sometimes it might not be the type of sponsor that a parent likes but as they say, it is what it is.

And while i cant promise it, chances are for your son or daughter to be moved from a team because you dont like the sponsor are very slim.

But as i said earlier, GCAA Soccer is looking for a way to not have to worry about sponsors anymore.

    And I can understand that.
I think it would be more appropriate instead of listing "Best beer" (if thats even the case) to "home of the best kids menu around!" Just something geared more toward kid's means and not "adult only" content.

Think about it. Baseball game for example. Kid is in the outfield, staring at nothing but his team's back...sees an ad for "Joe's Place-home of the best ice cream sundaes around"..I'm sure that kid is going to scream all the way home until mom & dad stops, lol.
Maybe that's a bit far-fetched, but I'm using it as an example.

I'm not going to be one of those people (and I'm not saying anyone is) who says that putting alcholol content on the back of a team shirt promotes early drinking. I just think it would be more appropriate if they limited wordage. Gear it more toward kids. :)

What if the sponsor was Uncle Larry's Condoms?

How do you associate a family restaurant that sells beverages with a strip club?

I was just trying to up the ante. I would have a problem with a shirt that said "Draft House" on it, and I disagree it is a family restaurant. Where is the play area?? Do they have a free kids night? MNRedsky was okay with "Draft House", so ok what about Mustang Ranch? Apples and oranges maybe, but not donkeys and swingsets!

OK, OK. Draft House or Last Resort. Or Little Brown Jug.

When did their become a requirement for a play area and/or kids eat free night for something to be a family restaurant? Perhaps you should just stick with McDonalds.

What about Howards Mini-Mart? Lowes food? Wal-mart? Each one of these sell beer and wine and I have seen more nudity in each one of them than I have ever seen at the draft house.
