It took me a month to finally snap a pic of my little shy ones.

    That's a good one.

It's like he's saying, "You finally got me!"

I haven't noticed any at my house the last 2 days.

    Hummingbirds will be back soon!

    Here's a current tracker map:

Last year's map had them in our area mid-March.

So, get those feeders ready and out early!

They will be thirsty from their long flight.

Saw feeders and nectar at Walmart today, wondered when the hummingbirds were coming back - thanks for the update!

Based on Kent's link, they're here as of today.

Feeders are going up either tomorrow or over the weekend.

The missus got our feeders out the other night in anticipation.

Looking forward to welcoming them back!

I'll get mine up in the morning. Wife says if they show up and the feeder is not ready they get angry.

Do you all make your own nectar or buy the mix?

Me too. 3cups water to 1 cup sugar 1st batch. 4 to 1 once they are regulars.

My feeders are up but haven't seen on yet.

So, it actually doesn't matter if the nectar is red? Are they drawn to the red on the feeder?

Absolutely. I always keep the nectar clear.

Almost all sources I have read stated that the food-coloring can actually be harmful to the birds.

The guy at Wild Birds Unlimited told me that the red and yellow attracts wasps and bees. We have a dripless feeder that is purple on top and clear on the bottom with uncolored nectar and we still get plenty of hummingbirds. Haven't see any yet this year but thinking I will put mine out soon.
