The sugar is still $1 a bag or was on Monday when I went. We use a lot of it for sweet tea. I make at least a gallon a day during the week or at least 2 gallons on the weekend.

Baking, sweet tea, kool aid and I use it in my coffee. Yeah, I know it isn't good for me, but I gotta die of something. I'll take the sugar over some chemicals. I'm getting too many of those in my Diet Sunkist. :?

I do realize that this thread has gone WAY off subject...but does anyone know any details of the "official" grand opening this weekend? I had the radio on at work yesterday and thought they said something about being somewhere this saturday from 3-5 on Hwy 42, so I'm assuming it's Walmart, but missed half of the commercial. Anyone know what's going on out there?

I forgot about Sweet Tea! LOL, and yes I am from the south. too funny. I use sugar too, I just use the raw sugar (not processed or refined). And I know you are baking up a storm June Cleaver. ;)

2 cups???? Lordy, I just got 2 cavities and gained 3 pounds reading that! :)

Bet it tastes good, though - LOL!

I only use 1 cup per gallon. I think my wife uses 2 cups per half gallon.

We have our own separate tea pitchers.

    *A* RedBox?

    Just one?

Please tell me there is more than one.
It only makes sense in Wally World.
Exactly. Remember when Sam Walton was alive, and if there were more than three people in line they opened a new register? And there were signs all over the store saying "Made in the USA".

Yea ...this is not that Walmart.
Have you ever been when every shelf in Walmart was stocked at the same time? New store ...same BS.

For starters, the new Walmart does not have enough nite time stockers, they get way to much freight in to finish each nite. Plus they all have a very laid back attitude on getting the freight on the shelf. (if I don't stock it, the next shift can do it), which all boils down to management, who I have observed being very laid back also! I was shocked to say the least.

Ok, I have to confess that I was wrong about Walmart having the lowest prices. We went last night and of the few things that I bought last week THREE of them had gone up in price.

    Hunt's Ketchup - last Sunday was $1. This Friday - $1.50.
3.15 Purina Cat Food - last Sunday was $3.54. This Friday - $4.58.
Velvetta Shells & Cheese Dinner - last Sunday was $1. This Friday - $2.98

Oh well, it was good while it lasted. A whole week. :ack: :banghead:

Well I just returned from my first "grocery trip" to the new Walmart and I've pretty much decided it will be the last. Hubby and I decided to give it a try tonight thinking it would be less crowded and plus we've been in on two other occassions since it opened and things looked great and there were plenty of cashiers. Well first off, a ton of the shelves were actually empty tonight and the produce was just nasty with rotten veggies/fruits:ack: It smelled awful and those little "rotten food" flies were all over. But the last straw was when we got up to the checkout and there were just 3 regular lines open, 2 "express" lines open, no self checkouts, and every single line was no less than 10 people long with carts piled high. We waited in line for literally 32 minutes to check out. It was so bad that people with ice cream were asking the cashiers to let them go back and exchange it out since their cartons were so melted. I was so disappointed and for me, the prices were the same as most Lowes Foods prices now that they have had so many price cuts to compete. Everyone was complaining in line tonight and what I thought would be a quick and easy late night trip turned into an hour plus trip:-(

I agree with you Michelle. Three of the items I went for tonight because they were priced better than Lowes Foods had gone up as well. Just not worth it for me either...

They still do that - only those stores are called Target now.
