Hey Kaci! I just took my other two babies up there, and a checkup and their parvo/distemper shots were 110, for both dogs!!! I love Dr. Basden too, she was so sweet with Cheyenne when we were up there... they stayed after hours when we had to put her to sleep, gave us as much time as we needed to say goodbye, and never once rushed us... That place does not seem over priced to me...
Kaci, I was talking about Clayton Animal on Hwy 70 here in town. 8) They broke me up earlier this year withy Molly's skin issues. Over $500 in visits, tests, scrapings etc and it ended up a $15 antibiotic I asked for on the first visit cured her. I was and still am highly ticked about not being listened to. I told the man we didn't have fleas and he would not, absolutely would not, listen to what I was telling him. And it was just a lot of unnecessary (IMO) crap we went through. Plus the $$!! Good grief! I would have loved to have had her spayed through a regular vet, but ended up using one of the low cost ones just because I'd spend so much on her through that crap. I was flat broke!
Whew, thanks Frame and kdc for clarifying, y'all had me scared to death, i love Dr. Debbie and would hate to have to change:hurray:
My last visit was $225 for 6 mo supply of Advantage-Multi and two shots. He needed two more but money runs out quick with fees like that. The flea meds were $90 And when I made the appointment they quoted me $180 for flea meds and all four shots.. I guess inflation shot way the **** up between the appointment making and the next few days it took me to get there. Maybe the price is reasonable.. I'm not used to having a vet bill... but with the $45 jump in price I felt pretty screwed. And now it's time for more flea meds and I'm not sure where I should go.
Yes, you can quite often get a better deal on flea/tick meds online. You do not need a prescription for flea/tick meds, but you do need one for heartworm meds. Some vets will write you a script for free, but others will charge a fee (often equal to the difference you would have saved had you gotten it online). I've gotten flea/tick meds from the following places and had good experiences with each: dog.com (Country Supply) kvvet.com drsfostersmith.com Both our dogs are with Clayton Animal Hospital, and I've had issues with them in the past—things like being sent home with the wrong dosage for heartworm, given meds w/o instructions, going through a bunch of tests/procedures when a simple diet change fixed the issue ($1k later ...), etc. I understand that things happen, but I don't like having to check behind my animals' healthcare professionals.
Be careful with Nutro, they are always on recall lists. I only use California Natural for all my pets. They do NOT source anything from China and I don't believe they have ever been on any recall lists.
