my mom had this done a few years ago. she agrees with 4me2know....it is an evil evil surgery and she would rather give birth on a busy interstate over and over again! if she had to do over she would NOT do it! not only was the recovery horrible.....she has not.....been the same since......going potty is misery!

I hope you can find another way to ease the pains honey!

I don't know about the procedure and certainly don't want to add worry to what you are going through - please get it taken care of. My dear friend from high school (who is only 46) is going through a cancer diagnosis. It started with her annual visit with her gyn - she asked him to check a hemrrohoid. He confirmed that it was, in fact, not one and referred her to a specialist. After weeks of tests, her news is not happy news. The only reason I mention this is not to scare you but wanted to bring awareness to something I read in the research I've done, I found out that hemrrohoids can be the precursor to a more serious problem.

I think its one of those things that its recommended to avoid surgery if at all possible. If I were you, I'd just keep nursing it for awhile and see if the swelling doesn't go down on its own. Thrombosis of a hemorroid can be painful, but they will typically shrink after awhile. Try warm sitz bath, try alternating between Prep-H and TUCKS and take something like Metamucial or Citrocel daily (recommended dosage) to help with...well, you know.
