No one is arguing that a confrontation is a good thing. :banghead: What part of the OP did you two miss that she was calling the store FROM HER CAR, not lying in wait for him to come out? He just happened to come out while she was calling and then started being a complete lunatic. Here it is, since some of you seem to be missing this very important part of the OP.

"I pulled out my receipt - by now a good 8 minutes had passed. I dialed Lowes phone number as I drove up to the back of the vehicle so I could give them the license plate number and when they answered I gave them a description of the vehicle and had given them half of the plate number when a man comes out holding his purchase, asking me what my problem was. . .I told him (nicely) that it was too hot for the dog to be left in the car and he went crazy "

Now, I am done with this thread, since basic reading comprehension seems to be a lost art on this one. And BTW, that is because I am done with it, not because you deem that we need to let it go. 8)

I thought you were done with this thread? :)

I am compassionate about certain things too. One of them is when people flick their cigarette butt out the window. When I baited Zoo with that I was hoping to use it to make a point. In fact I almost got shot once when I saw someone flick one out. I stepped out of my truck, picked it up and handed it back to the guy telling him it was his. Maybe that is where I get my reluctance to speak to the individual. He pulled his gun, I pulled mine and told him we can shoot each other or he can get out and fight like a man. That ended it, but it took a while to stop shaking.

Well, I think the final score is 4095 against me and maybe if I add up all of of the neutral comments I might get a total on 1 1/2 on my side. At least you are compassionate in your beliefs and believe in what you say. Rest assured I don't leave my dog in my vehicle and if I saw one I would make a fuss too. Maybe even the same thing Zoo did. Yes I understand, she did not intend to confront him. I would still recommend trying to avoid a confrontation.

It was a fun discussion. Have a good week.

So you baited me but recommend trying to avoid confrontation? WTF? Maybe practice what you preach.

Look, I was only trying to get Lowes to make an announcement and I was going to be on my way. . .it's history. My point in my post was not to ask anyone's approval for my actions, but to inform people to stop and think before they leave their dog - or their child in a hot car. Within the next couple of months, we will tune in the evening news and hear a half dozen stories from all over the country about kids dieing in hot cars. . .we never hear about dogs dieing as a result, cause people can dispose of them and who would know what really happened.

Sure, I could have called law enforcement, and a dog in a hot car probably wouldn't get top priority and the dog was panting like hell and it was already at least 8 minutes - I'd just read the hot car article (that I posted a portion of on my post) someone had sent it to me via email just a couple days prior and the temps and times were fresh in my mind. I made a decision that calling the store and getting them to make an announcement so the owner would return to their car, see the dog was in trouble and remedy the situation quickly, rather than depend on how long it might take to get a patrol car out there, and hope that they could locate the vehicle quickly - as the parking lot was fairly full.

I went in for 2 gallons of paint - I'd already had the swatches picked before I got there as I was there the night before to grab a few to choose from. I PLANNED to be in and out of Lowes in about 5 minutes. . .but there were 3 people ahead of me and I was in there for almost 20 - crap happens. . .plans change. . .but I didn't have my dog sitting in my vehicle - BIG difference.

You stated you don't care how they do things in New York - obviously you know nothing about New Yorkers - as you were likely referring to New York City - Upstate NY is very much the same (rural) as many parts of NC, and life resembles what it's like here - I vacationed in Upstate NY quite a bit growing up. As for NY City - wrong again in your assumption - most city dwellers tend to ignore "situations" and do their damnedest to NOT get involved. I kept my hands quiet before as I didn't want to BAIT you. Since your admission above, now, I really don't give a darn.

Did I really need a confrontation? NO All I wanted to do is finish painting a couple of rooms. I dislike confrontation, but sometimes, it's unavoidable. The guy saw and heard me giving his license plate number, so what was I to do? I had 3 choices - just drive off and ignore him, lie - and say what? or own up, tell the truth and let the chips fall where they may.

I chose the third option - and if I had it to do over again, who knows?
