Is anyone else having a problem with beetles?

Last night while we were getting our air conditioning system worked on, my girl schnauzer was playing with something on the living room carpet. When I looked, she was playing with a black beetle. When I picked it up to throw it out the front door, I noticed a ton of beetles on my front porch!! ugghhh..They were nasty!! I guess the outside lights attracted them. Sure hope it's a short lived thing like one poster said!!
