Niko Reading the comments of bullet guy and girl who seem to be affiliated or in support of Roger Davis. It shows how desperately we need to reform our animal control shelter in Johnston County. Their inability to have a conversation that doesn't include profanity and racism, shows a real lack of human compassion and intelligence! What a sad state of affairs! The main point here is that a dog was killed with no regard for the law. The law states that an animal, any animal has 10 days before being euthanized. So why was Niko euthanized the first day he was brought to the shelter? Could it be that Johnston County doesn't need to follow the laws and guidelines that every other shelter does? Shouldn't there be some consequences for negligence. If your child was sick and you brought him/or her to the Doctor's and they gave them the wrong medication would you think that was ok??? Or would OOPS be ok with you??? Negligence is negligence and consequences should follow!!!!
I challenge you to post actual quotes of where I have used profanity or racism. Even more difficult, point out a specific flaw in my arguments.
Or, could it be that a mistake was made? We all make them from time to time. Why crucify a person who was not even on the premises when this happened?
You've not really been reading my posts have you? If you had, you would know that I think Niko's owners are missing out on some well-deserved consequences as a result of negligence.
Thanks for the link! So Nebraska is just as backward as us???? That is absolutely horrifying. Im sure that dog will be saved, now that it's been made public. Im sure hundreds of people will call the judge. What is with these men in power? I sympathise for that family and Niko's family as well.
DOGS why doesn't somebody call the dog in nebraska and see if he will testify on nikko's behalf.dogs are people too. i'm sure he'ld like to help.and while we're at it lets give his "parents" a medal for letting him get out of the fence after knowing he was a problem.same song; different tune. responsability lies with the owner unless you can get a dog or cat to tell me otherwise.
From today's news on www.1270wmpm.com COUNTY MANAGER PROMISES CHANGES AT ANIMAL SHELTER - Johnston County Manager Rick Hester announced Monday the Johnston County Animal Shelter would be “reorganized in terms of its management structure” to prevent pets from mistakenly being put to sleep. Last week, a 2-year-old German shepherd named “Niko” was euthanized in a gas chamber just one day after its owners voluntarily agreed to have their dog quarantined after it attacked two people and their 13-week-old puppy. Hester said, “There is no doubt that major errors were made in the situation. Internal procedures were not formalized to a point to prevent these types of mistakes, and that will change.” Hester, who says he takes full responsibility for those mistakes, told WMPM that he does not have his proposed management system finalized as of today, but expects to have it completed later this week. Hester has already apologized to the pets owners, Lee and Cindy Davis, and has offered to pay for a new dog.
I commend Mr. Hester for taking full responsiblity. Hopefully he will phase himself totally out of animal control. He does have MANY other departments, so maybe he should relinquish this to someone else? JMHO
Well I guess all the yelling and screaming that has been done since this started has and will do some good. That was the goal from the getgo. Tonight the wb 10 o'clock news is doing a follow up so everyone please watch and listen. Thank you.
ROTFL!!! I wonder if there are other contries where family members are considered a delicacy? If so I think a lot of in-laws are in big trouble.
wrongly accused If you look back in these postings you will see a post that states it is my last post...I have not posted anything since then, although I am still reading the postings of others. As I said before, I am sorry for what happened to Niko, and I hope that although nothing can replace him, that there is a solution that makes everyone involved be able to achieve some sort of peace out of this tragedy. Please do not confuse the sarcastic comments of others to be mine. I do not nor have I ever taken animal abuse lightly. I am very proud of my job and hope that in some way I can make a positive difference in the lives of animals.
wrongly accused Furthermore, I need to state something else. I have not posted any replies except the ones you see by the username animalcontrol. I am not ashamed of my opinions. I have not talked bad about ANY group or any person. I am not affiliated with Roger Davis or COunty animal control, or employed by or a volunteer at either the county facility or JCAPL. I do not condone or condem the actions of anyone nor do I try to explain anyones actions other than my own. I have spoken to the JCAPL president in the past and have attended some of their early meetings, but none as of recent. Please do not accuse me of something I have not done. My only "crime" was to try to offer an opinion different from the majority. And no, I do not surf the net on duty, I am actually DOING SOMETHING to save animals rather than just talking about it. Again as always, My best to Niko's family and I wish for you comfort in this sad time. I apologize to everyone for being off topic, but I felt the need to defend myself. Thank you.
This has all turned out well so far, except of course the tragedy that put us all here in the first place. Johnston County Animal Control is going to have changes made in its management process to ensure that this type of mistake never happens again. However, the community needs to remember everything that has gone on and continue to push for justice. Remember, we arent here to argue whos fault it is that Niko jumped the fence or that he atacked his neighbors, everyone knows that is primarily the fault of the owner and no one else. The whole purpose of this is to educate the community and to make certain that this never happens again.
