I was born here and so were my parents and so were theirs.
I have given back to the community by helping in the Fire Dept and the American Cancer Society. I have also volunteered in Girl Scouts over the years. I think that my most rewarding thing that I have done was to work with mentally handicapped children through Jo Co Industries.

We moved here 6 years ago due to my husband getting a job out here, (furtherest he has ever been from his place of birth), plus my brother lived here and we had not been around each other for years. We love the area, rented up until a year and a half ago and bought a house, (hoping city limits stay away from our area!), try to take care of things, think we are good neighbors, did help with the girl scouts some, also help do what I can to support the schools and the CHS Marching band. Most of my kids' friends call me mom and I treat them as if they were my own and try to help keep them on the right track. I have helped with donations to the Red Cross and Salvation Army, and even though it may not be here in Johnston County, I am participating in the MDA LOCK-UP next week. My family has also helped with some of the needy families the 4042er's have sponsored, not to mention helping with other needy families from some of the "wish" trees various places set up at the holidays. (My kids love giving and helping people out as much as I do). We also try to make things fun at Halloween and do special things at Christmas for our neighbors and friends.

I'll look forward to that! Quincy retired in May, he's getting up in years. . .Jimmy, my 4 year old (a 45 lb Benjie-type) has been training to walk in Q's paw-prints :)

I recently moved to Clayton back in March. Moved here from Wake County.

Why I moved? Well, the house I bought out in Johnston county (brand new, new development) would have cost me TWICE as much in Wake. I also like the school systems, the traffic is not nearly as bad and I can't believe how freakin' nice the teenagers are out here. They are like a different breed..unbelievable.

I do however wish that Clayton would get with the times and put an AC Moore out here. :D

Moved here about 4 years ago after living in Knightdale for 13 years via a move from Michigan. My wife is from Murphy, NC, so the state is home for her. I have no desire for living anywhere close to Raleigh now that I have had a taste of JOCO. I like the down-home country style after being rasied on a farm for most of my life and even though we live in a subdivision (if that's what you want to call it being such a small one at that), it's alomost like being in the country although having about 10 acres to frolic on would be nice. I would love to own about 30(+) acres and build a baseball field, football field and a soccer field on for the local kids to play on anytime they wanted to and have the house right next to it so I could be the first in the stands when the games were on. I guess adding another few acres for some outdor concerts would be cool, too.

We moved here 5 years ago from Columbia, SC. Before that we lived in MD, just outside Annapolis. We moved here because our family had moved/was moving here and SC was far away from MD. Now pretty much everyone lives nearby, Apex, Clayton, Kenly, New Bern and us in Cleveland. We like this area because of the schools and that it's close to Raleigh without being in Raleigh or Wake County. We moved south because it was something we always wanted to do and because we wanted a better life. There would be no way that I could stay home with the kids and us be able to live in a house with 3/4 acres. My husband works in Clayton, our kids go to area schools, volunteer our time and love the community. This is a great place to live.

Well, we moved to Clayton in 1997 from VA Beach. I'm from Harnett Co., but my husbands job had moved us up to VA Beach to get that market up and going. He got promoted a year later and that's when we moved to Clayton. I have an Aunt and cousin who live here and I grew up coming up on Sunday's to either Clayton or my other Aunts house in Four Oaks, so I've watched the area grow from no stores, no 40 to what we see today. I love the Clayton area, and the local schools are really good, compared to wake county (that's why we moved here in 97). Clayton is my home now, I can't ever imagine moving back to Harnett Co. I work in RTP and my DH works over several states, so it's a perfect location for us to live. Small town living at it's best (well used to be).

    Nope.
AC Moore has a better selection and better pricing, in my opinion.

We've been here about 6.5 years, came because of DH's job as well. We could have chosen anywhere between Burlington and the coast, but the housing was much more affordable here than anywhere else. I actually had no clue about Clayton till after we moved here. I live on Loop Rd, and didn't realize there was a golf course 1/2 mile up the road till after we moved in! My house in TN was sold and I just picked one so we'd have somewhere to go, but we got lucky with that choice. Wasn't crazy about it at first, but the area has really grown on me, the schools are good and Clayton still has that "hometown" feel. Not sure how much longer that will last though. I really didn't start getting out to meet folks until a couple years ago, because I thought we'd be moving again soon, and I just didn't see the point, been there, done that. But DH has switched positions within his company and looks like we'll be here a good while longer. If it were just a little cooler in the summer..................................
