I have a idea, and yours is wonderful, but I forgot that my brother has a lazer machine and he can lazer on glass..so what I'm going to do is have my daughter write a note or short letter in her handwriting and my brother can lazer this on a piece of glass that was like in a picture frame and she can have that..can't get much more personal then that. He did one up for my mom from my niece and it's so nice to see the handwriting done by her. Very neat I thought. But, I need 3 done up. One for the teacher and one for the asst. and one for the reading teacher that helped her as well. So now I just got to go and get the picture frames and have my daughter write a nice note to each one.
I think the teacher was a little surprised when I got teary eyed and I hugged her..lol...but we all worked so hard to get my daughter where she is, she just had to really click with the reading..she was so good with all her other subjects..I didn't want to hold her back just cause of reading..I'm still very happy.

What a great idea! I know the teacher will cherish for years to come!

 

I know a class that got several parents from the class to give money for something like a gift certificate. The teacher appreciated the gift certificate. In the past students give so many candles and so much lotion. The teacher liked getting something big instead of so many small things.
But sometimes that doesn't work because not all parents want to participate!

 

Speaking of Gifts

My SIL is graduating from HS and she is the type of person that doesn't appreciate anything you give her. I want to be able to get something that is inexpensive so my girls can give it to her. Any ideas.

I was thinking of something she can use for college but what.

If she doesn't appreciate anything you give her, and you still want to give her something, why not one of those little books about counting your blessings or something similar? There are lots out there and she may learn something from it.

I am referring to the new teachers that feel their job is to be condescending to parents and students. My son has two H.S. Teachers that are just plain rude. Intellectually challenged at most these two are. It's the attitude and the way they carry themselves which really chaps my hide. These two are from out of state. Both Yankees. Both Snobs. They appear to have the feeling that if you have a Southern Drawl they are just simply superior. I think they tend to act tacky, self absorbed, and lack leadership skills for these kids.:evil:

 

Let's not be hasty...You might want to see them interact with people that don't have a Southern Drawl. They might not be prejudiced against Southerns, they might just be rude to everyone.

I'm unfamiliar with the term "Yankee". In the context you've used, it seems derogatory.
