We were at that race too!!! Remember when Little E hit the wall in the same spot at the beginning of that race? That was scary cause it took him a while to get out of the car. I can only imagine what he must have been thinking.

Hmm, I'm not sure. We bought ours at the track for $20. You can also rent them pretty cheaply too. The set I have is just a basic bottom of the line set. I didn't want to put much into them cause we've only been to 3 or 4 races.

You might want to call Radio Shack?

    Hey Brenda

You can also go online and download a frequency list for the scanners. If you purchase the scanners or borrow them from someone make sure they have the thicker pads to help with the noise although I dont think your dh or ds would mind the extra noise. you can rent them from various trailers along souvenir alley at the track. As much as I hate to say it if he is planning on driving home after the race he needs to leave at least 30 laps b4 the end (so he can hear the end on the radio when he gets to the car).Hope they have a safe and fun time. Why dont you pull for Steven Wallace? From your old co-worker on Main street.

We've driven home after the races before.. and we don't leave the race early. I'd say once we get back to the car, it might take about 30 minutes to get back out on the highway, then its just under 3 hours to get home. That new bypass around Greensboro on 40 makes it a little quicker.

Hey boy!!! How are you??? I was wondering if that was you when I saw the user name!! Yeah, you know my DH and DS so the noise won't bother them a bit. I still remember all the smack you guys used to talk to me because I pulled for Rusty. Rag man indeed!!!! :x

Wow, they must be good! Hubby's tickets were given to him as well, but were $95 each. I think every time he's gone they were about $70-90 each, and he's always had decent seats. The ones that are given to him are usually better, the ones in the box were the best he said, can't remember how he got those, that was a couple years ago I think. Hope you have fun! So did you decide to wait and go tomorrow I guess, since you're still posting here? Are you spending the night somewhere or driving back after the race?

Yeah, DH and DS are going to wait until tomorrow to go. They were given to him by some of the stockholders. He said these seats aren't available to the public but it looks like they're just regular seats when I try to look them up on the map. I might not know what I'm looking at though.

I've only been to Bristol and Charlotte. I never liked or watched Nascar til we lived in Bristol and I went to my first race, just to see what all the fuss was about. Bristol is a completely different experience than Charlotte. I am still not a rabid fan, I have no Nascar paraphenalia, but I do enjoy the races. You'll have fun, people watching if nothing else! There are all sorts that go. :jester: If you've got free tickets, I would go.

Girl, you should go. You would love it. I DO NOT like crowds or loud noises but I absolutely love nascar races. Just pop a xanax and you'll be fine.

I hear Bristol is like no other, and very hard to get tickets for. Hubby went once, got 2 free tickets last minute and was happier than a tornado in a trailer park (I had to!). He said it's probably the only chance he'd get to go, and so far he's right. His dream is Daytona, but hasn't gone yet. He really wants me to go, but don't see that happening anytime soon, we don't really have anyone to watch the kids for a weekend, and they're too young to go with us. Shoot, we're going to Costa Rica in 1 month and don't even know who's watching the kids yet!! (guess we should figure that out, huh?)

You should really go, I'm sure it will be fun! Just don't cheer for Kyle Busch, ok?

Yep, Bristol is the Holy Grail of Nascar races, LOL. I didn't realize how big a deal it was at the time. If we didn't have tickets race weekends though, most times we left town. Bristol is a small town nestled in the mountains, and you throw 150,000 more people in there plus all the race team folks and it is insane! The year I sat in the box, I had originally had seats in the stands, but I was pregnant and wasn't going to go (worried about the noise harming the baby, as I wasn't very far along, it is unbelieveably loud at that track) and my boss traded his box seats for my stadium ones. What a nice guy! He said it was doing him a favor because it's more fun to sit in the stands. Yeah, OK! The free food was awesome, and DH enjoyed the free beer.

My dh went to Daytona several times until E died and he won't go back to that track. He was at that race and he is/was a HUGE fan.
