I like to "dress up" for church too, Michelle. Maybe because my usual attire consists of jeans, sweatshirts, and sneakers. Curious, who is the respect for? God or the other people in your parish? Not directed specifically at you Michelle, but towards the discussion as it has turned towards church - I want to share this story as it is one of my favorites.
As to the Crocs......not only no....but HELL NO. As to the PJ's in public, not me as they ain't got pockets, and I gotta have pockets for my knife, wallet, snuff, keys, concealed carry handgun....that kinda stuff. As for shoes for me.....I have a a couple of pair of sneakers, but about the only thing I wear is hiking boots except atthe course where I pull out the golf shoes. Can't really tell you the last time I actually wore sneakers. But if peopple wanna look like white trash that just walked off the set of Springer then by all means go ahead. :jester: Craig
I dress up out of respect for God. I don't really care about what the other people at church think. It's just the way I was raised. And when I say I dress up I don't mean I go all out with a suit and hat, etc. I usually wear a nice pair of slacks and a nice blouse and some days I may wear a dress. We have folks that come in wearing jeans and a nice shirt and that's perfectly ok. It's up to the individual to come in what the feel is appropriate. I've never seen anyone be asked to leave a church because they didn't have on the fanciest of clothes. However, PJ's are not acceptable, IN MY OPINION. I seriously doubt that anyone would want to embarass themselves by pulling something like that though. This thread seems to have taken on a negative angle as do many of the threads that you join in. I will not have a ****ing match with you over this. I said in the beginning that it was up to the individual. To each his own. If you are comfortable wearing your PJ's or whatever out in public or to church then you go right ahead. It's your right to do so.
Yes, the highlighted statement above is right on... of course I added. For so many years I cared and cared and cared annnnnnnnd cared about what people would think and say. I came to the conclusion that it got me no where and that if they want to judge me by what I'm wearing, not wearing, my hair, my makeup or lack thereof without getting to know me first then good for them. When they go to meet their maker and realize that it was not their "job" to judge ... weeelllll then, we'll see who will be judged.
WOW, negative as in what you just posted there, don't get that blood pressure all boiling there girl. Geez. Was that a P issing match you were saying. You started this whole train wreck anyway. :jester:
I saw nothing negative in my post at all. I asked if it was for the people or for God. I then shared a story that I felt was relevant to the topic at hand, that actually came to mind after tukisaya posted - it just took me a bit to find it. I'm sorry you felt it was directed at you, even when I specified it wasn't.
red, I think your jammies are pretty hawt. If you have seen my baseball cap, then you know how much I care as well. Hey sista, go sista!
I think I am gonna go shopping now with my pjs on. I don't wear make up on a regular basis and I think I won't brush my hair or teeth. Can't wait to start counting the eye rolls. :jester::jester::jester::jester::jester::jester::jester::jester::jester::jester: Pick a topic for a day and everyone start bashing people. Woo Hoo!
My blood pressure is just fine SB. And yes it was a p issing match I was saying. My origninal intention was not to start a train wreck. I was really trying to be funny in my original post but I guess some don't understand humor.
