what's with all these dudes killing their wives/girlfriends/pregnant/seperated spouses? hacking them up, burning their bodies, dumping them in ponds....is this going on all over the country, or is there something in the north carolina water that's causing it?
I just can't stop agonizing over those little girls 2 and 4 years old. IF it is her body, then they've lost their mama and IF the husband had anything to do with it, then they would lose their daddy too. I can't imagine what they are going through and not understanding what is going on. I look at my own 3 year old daughter and cannot imagine how she would handle such a thing.
I know right? I get so sick of reading/hearing about it.....that guy at Fort Bragg was only 23 years old and smiled in his mugshot (what a MFSOB).....and one of the body parts they found of her was a severed clenched fist!!! thank goodbness their children are far away with her parents.....I just don't understand.....its just sad....
and I don't understand WHAT makes them think they'll get away with it? :banghead: does it happen in a fit of anger, and they're not 'thinking' at the time? :banghead: it is all so sad and senseless......... the poor families that are left to deal with the loss.
I agree with that. And in cases where it is planned, the perpetrator usually thinks they're not going to get caught, so it's not a deterrent there, either.
I'm so going to get flamed, but although it may not be a deterrent................they sure won't be doing it again.
I was firmly in favour of the death penalty (even given my background). But it seems there are a lot of people here lately that have had their conviction overturned due to new DNA evidence, and the like. I think re-examining the death penalty is needed in a majority of the cases. It may not be such a bad thing to simply warehouse them.
I know, thats what I mean - there are some STUPID criminals out there!! and then its the families that suffer. (and there was the black guy recently convicted for stabbing his wife - because she found out he was cheating, and the Indian man who burned his wife over money or divorce.........:evil do they really think they're helping the situation by killing off the spouse or that they won't get caught? :banghead:
In all that has been in the news lately has broken my heart. I am in favor of the Death penalty but i also agree that there needs to be 100% proof to put such a penalty in place. Sometimes I think that the death penalty is an easy way out. The evil side of me wants to see these individuals suffer they way their victims did but I know its not the humane thing to do and two wrongs don't make it right.(god i sound like my mother)
No offense, but I really don't think there was a jury out there that said, "Eh, it's close enough. Let's put him to death." People, at the time, believed 100% that the person was guilty "beyond a shadow of a doubt". It wasn't until years later that new forensic procedures were developed that disproved the guilty verdict.
none taken. I agree technology has come along way and I'm glad. But i do think a few years back that it was "yup you fit the profile" and investigators ran with it.
As much as I want to see the guilty punished, especially for heinous crimes, I have come to the personal conclusion that it's not worth "accidentally" killing an innocent person. Aside from a needless death, there is also the fact that, after the execution, no one is ever going to look at the case again and the real criminal may end up going 100% free.
I know this may come to a shock to some, but I am just about 100% against the death penalty. I think it's far more severe of a punishment to be in prison. THAT IS if prison would actual be knocked down a notch or 10! I think that once a person has been convicted they lose all their rights as an individual and shouldn't have any type of luxuries of the outside world. Totally cut off from society. I half step above a Mexican prison (or the likes on that show Prison break) would suffice. I know, I know...we've had this discussion before...
